This great route has great views for the final couple miles. We recommend starting early to avoid the heat. La Cresta Ecological Reserve is located near the Horsemill Rd side of the trail. This is a fantastic option for trail running due to its steady incline.

I hiked the 8-mile out and back trail this morning. It was a great hike to do right now, so much color (red flowers, white flowers, blue/lavender flowers, orange flowers, succulents growing out the side of the hill) that were all in bloom. I also saw lots of birds, 2 quail, a lot of rabbits and lizards, and 2 coyotes (separately) between miles 3 and 4. The first coyote came running onto the trail chasing a rabbit, and the second one was roaming a ways off the trail near what looked like a honeybee farm. There are a few shady spots that I stopped to rest and snack.

I recommend this hill for a consistent incline (slight) till the top! About a mile or so. At the top there a break down of different ways to go down. Coming back down the way coming up from behind Smart and Final is all speed with little jumps but have to becare due to the rain bridged out everywhere.

this is a nice easy trail with good views of the valley. about 4 miles in you come to the La Cresta Ecological Reserve, which made this hike well worth it

Very nice local out and back. Some Shade but I would go earlier in the morning. I went later and the sun was beating down pretty good. Lots of up and down hill you get a little elevation and on the way back down it’s all down hill for the last mile!

Nice hike except for all the trash and animal feces left everywhere. I recommend doing this hike in the winter months when it’s cooler outside. The last 2 miles has stunning views and if you are clever you will find a geocaching spot along the way.

Great trail, towards the last about 2 miles it was beautiful ; be sure you stay to the left when you leave the gate on the north side of the parking lot; I went to the right and added another mile to the total which made it more enjoyable. My total was 9.1 miles and about 4 hours. A fun day! BTW I would recommend boots that can aid in your hike. Have fun!

It's a good thing there is not much in the way of scenery along this trail, because you need to keep your eyes down to avoid stepping in one of the hundreds of piles of dog feces. Apparently, a high number of dog owners see no reason to even move their animals away from the center of the trail to do their business, much less pick it up. Other than that, this is a very easy trail. I went over the peak near the end to add some incline and variety and it was worth it.

We started at the Horsemill rd entrance at the Crest Ecological trail. nice steady walk or run with hills along the way.

It’s not the prettiest trail (fire access road and transient camps with lots of trash at the entrance) but it has good inclines. Also, if you keep going the scenery gets better.

Very pretty and nice service road to walk along. There are ups and downs all along the way to keep it interesting!

Great for trail running! Nice and easy slope. If you head up to the first peak (past the power line towers) bring some hummingbird food to fill up the memorial hummingbird feeder ❤

This start next to Smart and Final (previously Vons) on a fire road and has a steady incline to the top. Unfortunately this area has some transients and their camps on the side of the hill in bushes. Even though I have never seen anything bad happen I recommend other women to have a good dog or go with friend. If you want to shorten your hike you can turn around half a mile up where the incline opens up.

It is a nice and smooth fireroad. The climb was steady but not too steep from the Vons side. Sadly, there is a LOT of trash near the entrance gate. It would be a good clean up project for some organization. I wish I knew who maintained this property.
