Nicely cut, but lots of animal droppings on the trail. Watch your feet!

Nice, well-maintained single track trail. Few oak trees at beginning, then follows a creek bed before asending for views of Santa Clarita. Connects Newhall Pass Open Space with Wildwood Canyon Open Space.

The trail is to the immediate left. Took the wrong trail onto someone’s personal property. Interesting trail that is narrow, filled with wildflowers and birds. You can go off trail but I don’t recommend it.

Great trail! Plenty of opportunity to go off course if you don’t pay attention and the latter half is a bit overgrown. Watch out for snakes! Saw lots of birds, lizards, and a bunny. Recommend long pants and checking for ticks afterwards. The sound of the freeway is present for most of the hike, but there’s a good bit toward the end without it.

Overgrown with black mustard, covering the trail. Had to turn around.

First to Review

A hidden gem in the Santa Clarita Valley -- thanks to AllTrails for helping me discover it! The trail is a bit hard to find at first, immediately behind the sign on the Old Road. At first it looks like a use trail in the grass, but it quickly becomes clear this a well-designed single-track that leads you past a seasonal stream and dramatic sandstone cliffs, up to a ridge where you can easily connect to the trails at Wildwood Canyon Park. There are great views of the SCV from the ridge. Though you're never far from I-5 and the associated noise, the trail is lightly trafficked, and it really feels like exploring. I'd compare it to some of the trails at nearby Elsmere Canyon, but more isolated. Highly recommended!
