Modest sized botanical garden with no admission fee makes this an ideal repeat venue for nature walks. Most of the garden is shaded and plants are more or less grouped nicely by continent, though the garden as a whole could be significantly cleaned up and better manicured.

Easy to walk around. Nice hidden places to eat lunch or take a break. No pets allowed.

Be very thoughtful about where you traverse inside the gardens. The path as shown here is not "easy" at all, towards the rear of the property (farthest away from the entry gate). You need cash or card to park ($2 for an hour or $4 for 2 hours today), plus $5 donation pp to enter (free for students).

The horticulturalists of UCR are doing a fantastic job at keeping up with the botanical gardens. The paths takes you to collections of different specimens with different gardening styles. Parking free with semesters aren't in session.

Parking meter doesn’t work..

Great place to explore with your kids. Lots of different native plants, a turtle pond, different small view points. Nice walk with shade.

Such a great trail!! I did this hike with my 10month old kitten for the first time We loved it! lots of shade and herbal plants and trees. "Onion" loved chasing the lizards. it really gives you a variety of hikes from easy to hard trails. I personally like to hike barefoot,so it was clean and made it easy for me and my kitten to walk the trails.

A best kept secret for Riverside. I've lived here a long time and never knew this place was here. Sticking to the paved trail is easy. A lot of the trail is in the shade. Sections are steep but UCR warns you. The school requests a $5 donation which is a bargain. You will pay to park and the school enforces that policy. Excited to hike more of the garden. Thumbs up!

It’s a nice visit to walk around if you are a plant nerd. But if you really have a big hiking spirit, you won’t enjoy this hike as much. Super easy. There’s restrooms and water fountains on location, and nice maps and layouts of the space.

There is a $2 parking fee to be here an hour but I thought it was worth it especially with some of the cacti blooming. The dessert garden area was my favorite and I’m sure there is lots more to explore in the area. I also saw a variety of birds there too! Hawks, hummingbirds, and even a woodpecker!

This is a great place to do a hike/walk! My husband and I took our 2 year old. Some of the trails are definitely doable with a toddler others are not. However. The variety of trails make it both fun and interesting. The plants/trees make every trail seem unique but it is very easy to make your way back to the start.
