Great trail, but the mileage listed on All Trails is off. From the Barney Lake trailhead near upper Twin Lakes to Peeler Lake is about 10 miles one way, and from the far end of Barney Lake to the first meet up of Peeler Lake is closer to 5 miles which are all mostly steep switchbacks.

If you’re backpacking and not acclimated to the altitude, recommend setting up camp for a night around Barney then heading out to Peeler. Elevation at Peeler is ~9,800 -10,000+.

Lots of great water spots and you can tell the trail and camp spots are respected. No trash, and no fires. Great hike full of eastern Sierra beauty.
