Perfect beginner trail for bikes and kids. Paved.

Beautiful, mellow bike ride for beginners. Varied views from forest to river, to meadows and ski resorts. Had a very easy time parking at the transit center and jumping on the path right there.

Well this was a bad choice. So annoyed. I thought only parts would be next to the high way. The whole trail is next to the highway. Maybe okay for a cycle. But NOT for hiking!

Parked van at Bells Landing and ride the bike on the trail to near the dam. Drop in at the bridge and SUP’d to Bells Landing. River was very shallow at spots but runnable with an inflatable SUP. Had to ride the nose of the board a bit to raise the fin and avoid rocks.

Such a great trail for kids. Tons of swimming holes all throughout. The river is extremely low and calm as of 7/26 Which makes it nice for swimming. Enjoy!!

Visited this trail last two days. No more snow on trail but still wet. Highly recommend this trail for any age. Great views and easy hike. Saw lots of birds, chipmunks, and a coyote. Recommend parking near alpine meadows dr and walking in either direction.

Mostly dry. Enjoy the river views... note: pedestrians do not know to walk on the patient!

Great bike path along the river.

I love running by the river. Sealed path is nice to get in a rhythm and enjoy. I ran it as a there and back (about 14-15 miles). WARNING if you do and start in squaw the last two miles will be up hill. I didn't realize until it was too late

We had a great time on this bike ride. My 2.5 year old son, my husband, and myself (7 months pregnant) did about 1.5 miles of it before we turned around due to rain. We weren’t sure how to find it though and where to park. We asked a local and they just built a new bridge from the transit center parking to the trail. So park at the transit center and you’re set!

Beautiful views of the truckee river. This is more for biking then for hiking. My kids handled the path pretty well.

Okay for a bike, not so much for walking. Next to the highway, not so close to the river.

we took this trail specifically to bike. It is right next to the road, so being aware of that is important. despite that, it is beautiful along the river and there are places to stop and enjoy the view. I would not recommend this for walkers/hikers. It is pretty dominated by bikes and the path isn't super wide. if you jog or run you can keep up with the flow. it was just workable enough for our six year old to handle on his bike, although being on part of the busy road due to construction gave us some pause.

This is the longer option for those interested in taking in some of Tahoe City, the lake, and both the Truckee River and Squaw Valley bike trail systems. It's a great ride! You go through town a bit then head over the dam and downriver taking in the splendid sites of the Truckee River. Eventually we came to the Squaw Valley entrance and continued up to the ski resort where a jeep race was mustering. It was cool, an all-women event, racing jeeps overland and back country down to San Diego. You return the same way.

It's a paved trail that's more that lightly trafficked. We took the trail with our two kids and German Shepherd and instead of looking at the scenery we had to constantly pay attention to bikes so we could move out of their way.

Was an easy walk with paved trail. Was a good starter walk to get vacationers acclimated to the altitude.

The Truckee River Bike Trail is a nice casual walking path. It does get warm in the late morning in July. There are many cycllists on the path so make sure you follow the rules.

The trail is right next to the highway. Good views of the river. Lots of biking traffic. Maybe best just to bike it.

Enjoyed this ride when I was a Truckee resident. Used to ride it couple times a week for training, from Tahoe City into Truckee. Tip: don't recommend biking this in the month of November, unless you are packing some heavier gear to keep warm. I made that mistake once... was quite a bit warmer near Lake Tahoe and got colder as I neared Truckee. Burrr!

We have enjoyed this scenic path following the contours of the Truckee River on several occassions. Great spots along the way for picnicing, swimming, wildlife, wildflowers. Family friendly.
