NOTE: Must show proof of Palo Alto residency to hike at Foothills Park. Explore the wonders of Palo Alto Foothills Open Space. This hike loops through a mixed grassland and oak habitats. A wonderful afternoon outing for the entire family. Take the Wild Horse Valley Fire Rd. to the Costanoan Trail to Lost Trancos to the Trappers Trail.

I was able to do the beginning of this trail but the meat of it is closed due to the storms this past winter. The trail is completely gone and not walkable anymore.

But there are plenty of other hikes in this park, lots and lots of trails. As the other reviewer pointed out you are supposed to be a Palo Alto resident to use this area but there's nobody at the gate during the week.

Apparently you have to be a resident of Palo Alto to hike here. lame
