Love this trail, great views, lots of green, shade and great elevation gains. The best park, hardly any people!

As a beginner hiker, this one was a challenge for me. Lots of steep hills, but very worth the effort. I highly recommend it. Felt quite a sense of accomplishment finishing this one—and you just can’t beat the view from Vista Point!

Love this hike! This is one of the first trails I did back in 2016 and I fell in love with it. I hit this trail at least twice a week. I love all of the views and I like to extend the loop over to Homestead/Hoffman and down to the paved road where all the tree tunnels are and back up to where the monastery is. Beautiful at sunrise and sunset!

Steep all the way up but downhill coming back. Wide trail with many grooves from rain water.

Prior to reaching the Vista Point, I was thinking "this trail is mediocre at best." However, once you reach the the Vista Point, the trail does have some redeeming qualities. You get a good view of the Oso Reservoir (not that big of a deal) and Modjeska Peak and Santiago Peak. There is a cool Eagle Scout project at the top that has fixed periscope viewfinders (not sure what they're actually called!) you can look through to see the peaks, Catalina Island, Fashion Island, etc. They are just viewfinders and don't have any magnification, but they're still cool in terms of helping you notice and appreciate the details of the panoramic view.

We Very good trail. Difficult for the beginners! Did 0.8 miles one way and had two elevation and two deeps! It was fun though. We can see Vedanta society from the trail! Bikers passed by and had real respect a for them.

Nice, well maintained trail. Parked in a neighborhood for free which is a nice perk. Views are pretty good considering you’re pretty much in a neighborhood. Lots of horse poop though! Overall a nice hike and good workout!

Enjoyed this suburban trail. First the highlights: We went just before sunset and the views were beautiful plus we saw many bunnies and even a family of deer! Practicalities: we started at the gate off of Meadowridge and Chisolm where there was plenty of street parking. You skirt behind some houses for a bit then end up in the open space and start to feel more remote (you can still see houses periodically but the hills help hide them regularly). Plant life at this time of year was going dormant so pretty brown. It's a wide trail which was helpful since there were other hikers and mountain bikers, everyone was courteous. No restrooms.
