The part about halfway through where you go off trail is doable, it’s a little overgrown at first but it opens up. You have to climb down some rocks too that is a little dangerous but it’s fun and not too hard

Lots of bugs. Came across a snake. Creek is completely dry besides that it was a good workout under 80 degree weather.

Great hike! Little to no bugs. We did get a warning about a rattlesnake, but we did not see it.

There was an idiot on the trail smoking a cigar. LAFD almost has Saddleridge fire contained and this idiot has a cigar on a hiking trail nearby. Other than that, great hike!

Defintely more of a hike and steady climb than a running course but good shade early on in the canyon and connects to the short loop if you want a long run 5+ miles. People are steadily on the path but not bad. Near the top has excellent views.

I really enjoyed the climb and narrow path as well as the free parking! This is a fwy close- easy-ish hike! There were bikes on the trail though. We almost walked into a storm of bees, but we waited and they swarmed off up the mountain side. Yikes! The picnic tables aren’t near the parking lot and we didn’t see them. The bathroom is up a way from the parking lot, but there is one!

We went a day after some heavy rain and it was a MUDDY trek. Passable in sneakers (we hadn’t thought it’d be THAT muddy...) but just barely. We both had some slips. Good hike though, it’ll be better when it’s dry, and a nice mix of shade and sun. Our elderly dog loved it. Great views from the end of the trail.

This is one of my favorite hikes I’ve done in recent memory.. it’s mostly shaded at the bottom, has its challenging hills, with nice scenery, and love the creek at the bottom, how it cuts in between the mountains!
