This is a great spot for hiking, biking, walking, and trail running. The nice thing is you can customize your hiking experience. You could do all easy trails, or add in some moderate/strenuous. We did Car Wreck (strenuous) on the way down, walked along Wood Creek (easy), then went back up on Meadows (strenuous). All together, it was 6.75 miles. The trail is very well maintained, and there are bathrooms and water fountains every so often. The parking lot gets full quickly, so I’d recommend getting there by 8:30am.

It’s actually marked as difficult by the trail markers vs the app saying it’s moderate

Unbelievably expansive views from the ocean throughout Saddleback Valley. However, even though this says it is a “moderate” trail, we thought it was strenuous because of the steep and lengthy uphill climb.

Nice hike with beautiful views, all uphill then all downhill, be ready for that type of hike, almost no flat walking at all.

Lots of high speed reckless mountain bikers today. One got hurt and OCFD went in to pull this person out. OCFD said something like it was just a normal day. Little shade. Lots of ruts. Don’t bring ur little ones.

The area has lots of choices to hike. Long and difficult ones, and some family friendly. Look for signs and maps, it will help you plan your visit. Bring sunscreen and water, there is little shade, but worth the trip!

Such a challenging quick little hike. The view at the top makes for a great reward. Can’t wait to check it out for sunset. Bring water and lots of spf. Big plus that it’s dog friendly too!

HikingGreat!No shadePrivate propertyScramble

Straight up and straight down. Very limited parking in the neighborhood (and supposedly you need a permit- I didn’t have one- just make sure you’re not blocking anyone’s property and I think you’ll be good). Quite a workout on the way up- don’t forget to look back every few turns as you’ve got some pretty stunning views of laguna. Technical on the way down, make sure you’re wearing good shoes. Brought my small dog and had to carry him halfway up. Hikers on the trails super respectful and had their dogs on leashes. No shade, so bring water. Got busy once reaching top of the world, but that was expected. Overall, great hike. Short and sweet (and sweaty!)

The trail was beautiful! But definitely didn’t have a great experience. Got to the top and had one beer that was inside of a coozie while watching the sunset. Two cops walked up to me and fined me for having an open container. For context, I’m from out of state and am only working for a few weeks as a COVID ICU travel nurse. They didn’t seem to care and were more worried about protecting the rich people of Laguna Beach from criminals like myself. Needless to say, I won’t be returning.

Awesome hike. Pretty crowded, but a wide path and lots of room at the top don’t make it feel cramped
