From CA 41, take the Friant Road exit. Head northeast on Friant Road for 1.3 miles to the signed left turn into Woodward Park. Proceed to the entrance station and pay the fee, then continue 0.1 mile on the park road (Yosemite Road) to a junction. Turn right and drive 1.1 miles to the signed Sunset View parking area on the left. Park in the lot; the broad unsigned trail is located just across the park road, reached via any of several social paths. GPS: N36 51.743' / W119 47.406'

Easy trail for the family and dogs too! Minimal shade. If you can get past the view of the trailer park there are some beautiful spots along the river to sit and enjoy the scenery.

Woodward Dirt path Portapotty Goes down to River Pretty sweet trailer park NOTE: bottom leg of trail that runs along the 41. I don't think this is actually part of the trail. Trailhead sign is where it meets the loop. I think only the loop is the MacMichael Trail. -DB -KB

This trail is excellent for kids; wide paths and several options make this very versatile. Unfortunately, the versatility of this trail is offset by a complete lack of shade (save for 15 trees total) and a rather unsightly trailer park. This trail is definitely meant for a cloudy or foggy day to be a lot more pleasant.

very easy trail, great for young kids. I almost stepped on a 3ft long snake slightly camouflaged with dirt because I was leash training my puppy so I wasn't paying close attention. Very scary so keep a close watch on surroundings. I have also been warned by other hikers that there are almost daily car break ins. Especially by the trail because they are looking to steal women's purses, so that's why I only gave 3 stars.

It was a nice easy walk. Fairly flat trail. Went in January so there was not many people.

Nice in City hike. Parking is $5 as of April 2017. lots of options when it comes to paths and most are intertwined. feel comfortable scrambling towards the Apex of the hike. There is water in 1 location that we could easily see.
