Great Trail for entire Family to enjoy. All trails are basically level & decomposed granite with some hard adobe/dirt sections. Youngsters with bikes and training wheels can use all sections. Great ocean salt air breezes. Lots of Estuary Wide Open Views with Estuary Wildife Birds & Cotton Tails & Lizards to see. Posted to watch for Rattle Snakes. Navy Helicopter Training Base is just east of Estuary so earlier morning rides are best since Helo’s don’t fly then. I think Sunday’s Helo’s may be off all day. Need to confirm that.

Flat and mostly gravel. The view points with benches are very nice to sit and observe the fish and birds! Go early in morn for cool breezes and avoid the helicopter field noise.
It a great walking trail the view are nice and very dog walkable. Well maintained

Totally nice flat and quiet unpopulated hike for walking or running. Will be back often for 4 miles of relaxation

Nicely kept trails. No trees. Bring water.
Very peaceful and scenic trail. It was a little muddy in parts due to recent rains but was easy to get around. Good trail for walking, running and biking.
Flat and easy walk throughout. The last leg cuts into the estuary so you feel a little more removed from the surrounding residences and US Navy property. Very poor pet cleanup on the main trail.
We like it. Hiked it today with Zara.
Our visit was peaceful for the adults and fun for the kids. From the Visitor Center, we walked 1/3 mile south to where one of the trails dead ends at an overlook with two benches. The kids loved bird watching and just watching the water flowing under the bridge. The exhibits at the Visitor Center are fun and informative for kids and adults, and some of them are hands-on too. Recommend!
Very quiet trail. Peaceful.
I love this trail and mountain bike it with my family often. Hiking is easy but I have to bike as a necessity. Great parking at several different trails heads. You’re real close to the ocean at all times so the salt air & breeze is always pleasing/ always there. Since it’s an Oceanic Estuary, you’ll see lots of native birds. Rabbits & squirrels too.
This was a nice flat walk. No shade and little air movement in some areas. It’s described as a loop but be aware that it’s mister definitely not. It’s an out and back trail. Bring lots of water and wear a hat. Nice bird viewing
If you like birds and rabbits you will love this short trail. flowers, cactus, lots to see.
A nice scenic walk. Plenty of birds and rabbits to catch your eye and not a lot of traffic.
a very nice easy hike I live near here and walk my dog here often
Ok trail isn't really a loop ok for a quick outing
Okay
really very easy walked the trail and had to walk extra don't feel like a trail nothing to see
I loved it. beautiful wildlife everywhere. has a small loop off dairy mart road good for kids and anyone looking for a quick walk. looking forward to the 4 mile loop.
Very nice place I felt very happy to see so much flora and fauna I think I looked more animals than when I did to the zoo
Super easy, fun for kids or for running :)
It's a great hike, but the reason for the 3 stars is because it has no views. It's just flat land with navy helicopters flying above you. one can see wildlife like birds, rabbits and it's a decent walk but no views. It's a good place for bird watching and take a good stroll.I sugest you read Afoot and Afield is a book about trails in San Diego.
The breeze from the ocean is great

Amazing trail and beautiful scenery! A nice relaxing spot to hike, walk your dog, and see wildlife. It has a great view of the sunset.
This trail is not much of a hike. It's best for walking, jogging, running or even biking. Theres an estuary hence the name. There's an information center that can provide you with information. They are very helpful, nice & can educate you. If your interested in birds or wild flowers this is a great place!
I grew up hiking this one very easy very kid friendly . this is a good year around hike no hills mostly flat land
Tijuana Estuary is part of a complicated State/Federal Park. The trails are as flat as they come, but if you're interested in birding, or wildflowers, this is an excellent place to bring binoculars, camera and a field guide or two. It's also a kid friendly walk. Spring is ideal, and as the summer wears on and autumn arrives different birds and plants become more prominent. The date I entered is arbitrary, as I've been there many times. The visitor center is worth a look as well. Leave a couple bucks in the donation jar, the parks need our help right now.
