Nice loop trail, hiked mid day. Very sunny, minor shade in areas, creek view, nice breeze.

Great trail! kind of secluded so don't go alone. plenty of shade, we enjoyed it and have done it a couple of times. potential for snakes and mountain lions, so come prepared.

So why did I give this trail 3 stars...it's 5 stars for the area but 3 stars over-all compared to trails in found in California; very close to housing and toll road (which is a plus in some ways..like easy access). Very pretty area and very easy walk but I do see graffiti on the cement wash area. Nice rolling hills, oaks, lots of sage, thistle and all. Yes, there are cougars about so keep your eyes peeled but I can guarentee they see you and you may never see them. If there's large game, deer, then there are also the larger predators, like mountain lion. I carry pepper spray, but if a cat's stalking you (me!)...good luck! We had occurrences over 10 years ago in Whiting Ranch (not too far away) where one cyclist was killed and another nearly killed by mt lion so they are most certainly about. Did spot some Hen-of-the-woods on old oak logs (looked inedible). On this walk I didn't see much in the way of wildlife though...you'd have to sit quietly for a while!

it's an absolutely beautiful trail, came across some deer and a coyote. Like Brandi Rubin mentioned in her review of this trail, be careful and be aware of your surroundings, don't go alone, it is secluded in some areas, and has the potential for being dangerous. Bear spray or something similar is a good idea to have with you.

Was last on this trail in May and encountered a mountain lion. I hike alone. Was very scary, though I was fortunate in the fact that it could have cared less about me. It looked at me for about 2 seconds (which felt like forever) before sauntering off in the opposite direction of me. Needless to say this is a beautiful trail with many trees and a creek you cross, but this encounter left me scared. Hadn't hiked for a few months because of it. Am now back in full swing. A bit lonely of a trail if you have an emergency (snake bite/mauled by mountain lion /encounter a guy who will harm you) it is very secluded in many areas. Would not go alone next time.

Perfect for a quick easy hike. Went on a Monday morning and was very peaceful, not too much traffic. Only ran into some bikers. Easy to moderate trail.
