Take Fairway Dr in Novato to Thornhill. Park on that small street and see the open space at the end of the street. This is a pretty steep climb so bring poles and good hiking shoes. When you reach big rock ridge you'll be about 200 yards from the top of the Ponte fire road.

Very steep but with a beautiful view at the top. Very nice if you’re looking for a challenge and don’t want to be out all day.

This was entirely uphill and was not fun at all. We felt as if we could have fallen down the steep hills any second. Not kid friendly
