I did this with my 2wd tacoma stock lift with all terrain tires (265/70/17). I got 2 friends with me and they have 4x4. This trail is easy you dont need 4x4 here when its dry. I think any stock 4x4 suv or truck will be fine. But for 2wd some parts you need to pick your lines. Just make sure you know what youre doing. Its a good trail for beginners. Btw the view at the top is priceless. Especially coming down around 7:40 pm (sunset)

Nice trail, my first time being the driver off-roading in my awd RAV4. Amazing views at the end. Good amount of camping spots

First time taking out the new stock 4x4 4Runner SR5. Wanted something easy just to see what was up and how she’d do. It was easy, but fun. A few spots that needed some deeper attention. Put in L4 about 2/3 of the way up, but probably could have made it H2 the entire way. Saw some hippie dudes camped up close to the top that had an old Toyota 4x4 van and an older Subaru Legacy sedan. Good trail for beginners or if you’re just looking for a fun, casual ride with a nice scenic payout at the top. We made it to the final campground (it was empty on a Wednesday) at the end of the trail. Ate some sandwiches, sat around, checked out the views and bounced out. Took 90 min to get to the top about 50 min to get down.

This was the first time I took my Jeep out on an off-road adventure. Perfect way to dip my toes in the water. A few hairy spots but my stock Jeep tackled it just fine with a little air-down and 4WD.

this is a good beginner off-road trail for your vehicle most of it is easy a little bit moderate and I imagine if it had just rained or was very wet it would be more moderate to hard

Nice little trail up to some yellow post camping spots. We didn’t come till Saturday so every yellow post was taken. Just found a spot off the trail and spent the night.

This trail is a lot of fun! Nice places to pull over and take in the view and snap some photos. The trail is pretty easy some spots get real rocky. We only had to use 4 wheel once throughout the entire trail. You’ll find people camping once you reach the top of the mountain. Took about 3 hours to finish and that’s with us pulling to the side a few times.

Easy trail, just rough. The trail is a little smoother and definitely prettier entering from the north end on Little Thomas Mountain Road. Recommend going all the way to the top. Lots of tent camping spots. Very enjoyable day trip.

Went up and camped at the summit this past Friday. The road/trail is fairly easy to navigate although I’d recommend a high clearance vehicle. Our intention was to camp at a yellow post site however by 1pm on Friday all the sites were taken so we ended up taking a make shift site up at the summit. The views were stunning. The beauty of the mountain can be best seen on the foot trails. It does get pretty windy at the top, especially at night and into the morning so be prepared. Also, be sure to practice Leave No Trace! Folks seem to leave a lot of trash lying around. If you’re looking for a quick overnight or weekend getaway Thomas Mountain is a great place to go without committing to a long drive.

Super easy trail for beginners like myself. My 2007 2wd Tacoma made it up and all I have is a lift kit and some 33 inch ATs. Some mild washes but just pick a angle that’s not too crazy and you’ll be fine. On my way down I saw a 2015 Honda Civic racing up the trail and it blew my mind. So that should show how easy it is. There’s a camp sight up there but it gives off some hills have eyes vibes so I’m not sure if I would stay the night up there.

Ran into people who said they are there to Quarintine. Camp ground over crowded, none of the camp sites are available with people setting up tents and having ground fires by the side of the road. The bathroom is now chained, I couldn’t find a trash dumpster(which there usually is?) bags piled on the ground. Sad to see it over run.

4x4 f150 2018 Easy, great trail, kids loved it because they got to play in the snow. Saw locals walking their horses back down trail as we were heading up. We also saw some people camping there too. Towards the top of the bend we went through a muddy part of the trail and didn't want to risk getting stuck in the mud in another part futher up the trail so we made a u turn. Recommend better tires to proceed. We were almost to the end....better safe than sorry and it gives us the opportunity to come back.

Trail is open during Covid-19 pandemic! Easy trail as long as there's no snow or heavy mud, otherwise don't attempt to go to the top if you don't have 4wd and some good clearance after a winter storm. Beautiful views and plenty of silence to calm the soul!

Made it to the top in a '96 Honda Accord. Trail is easy and wide. Along the trail you will find a campground (Box Springs), as well as a no longer used mine operation.

Nice, easy beginner’s trail with good views and pleasant terrain. Trail was a little bit muddy in some areas but nothing that some careful planning wouldn’t get you through. Nice views at the top. A worthwhile day-trip to get outside and enjoy some fresh air.

Beautiful view, muddy, and the big puddle at the very end of the trail (north) was not expected, but is manageable by a stock GX460 w/ AT tires, a lot of fun!
