Traversing a remote section of the Mokelumne Coast to Crest Trail (MCCT), this long but leisurely hike with a shuttle option starts out on a historic stage road through Gold Country grasslands before traversing the steep-walled, rugged confines of the lower Mokelumne canyon. A hiking permit (fee) is required from the EBMUD available online at www.ebmud.com/recreation/trail-use-permit/sierra-foothills-trails or from the entrance kiosks at Pardee Recreation Area and Lake Camanche. There is no potable water available along the trail. The trail closes at sunset.

Beautiful winter hike. Lots of history if you look closely.
