A short and easy stroll along the Pacific Ocean, featuring a beautiful lagoon filled with birds, one of surfing's landmark beaches, the Malibu Pier, and the historic Adamson House. This entire state park offers tastes of some of the best parts about Southern California beach culture - from surfing and sunbathing to tidepool exploration, birdwatching, sportfishing, and one of the state's finest examples of Spanish / Moorish revival architecture and local pottery, there's a little something for everyone here.

This short 2 mile trail is a must do for numerous of reasons! You pass by this all the time but do you realize the important history/story of this trail? This is where Malibu first started. You will see the Adamson home which was the first house in the city. They also built the Malibu Pier for transporting goods in. The Adamson home property is gorgeous and very well kept. Saw a wedding party viewing this spot to prepare for an upcoming wedding. The home explains a lot of the first stuff in Malibu so by stopping by the Adamson home allowed me to know more as I continued on the trail. Walked all the way to end of Malibu Pier. You will see Malibu Farms and Malibu Cafe for eating as well as people fishing at the end. Don’t forget to make a wish on the Swing on Pier! After walking the Pier will next take you down the steps to Malibu Beach. Take some pictures of the beauty of the coastline. Soak your feet in the sand and water. You will see a lot of surfers as it’s one of the three points where the Pacific Ocean and Malibu Creek meets where you see the Lagoon. Lots of amazing things to see fresh water and salt water mix together. You will see various of animals, plantation etc... just such a very calming area to be in. Continue around the Lagoon, the map is off a bit and use the canyon road back to the parking spot. You have just fulfilled yourself with history of Malibu, the beautiful home property, the pier, the beach/ocean and the lagoon! That’s why it’s five stars for anyone to enjoy even though it’s very easy and short. It’s enjoyable and learned a lot about Malibu the place everyone drives through every day. Stop and see to enjoy this place.

This is a very special walk! Yes, you walk around a nice bird sanctuary lagoon, but the treasure is you can walk right onto one of the most famous surfing beaches in the world, Malibu's Surfrider Beach next to the Malibu Pier!!! In addition at low tide only, you can walk to the right on the public beach zone and view the famous Malibu Colony Community. The paid parking lot is small, however there are many free parking spaces on the coast highway adjacent to the Malibu Lagoon State Park. It is a flat and easy to walk, but bring sandals if you want to walk the half mile walk on the sandy beach to the Malibu Pier. Don't miss this small but beautiful state park!!!
