started at this trailhead, and back on to the main loop. Actually 5.7 miles RT. I drove a mile before I realized, I forgot to stop the recording.

Great short trail without a lot of climbing. Good for a quick once around or a cool down from one of the loops if not too late in the day.

great trail but watch out for snakes! Ran up upon a Southern Pacific rattler - 4 feet or so long. Keep your eyes on both sides of the trial.....

What's called the Taylor Loop is now complete meaning it is no longer necessary to walk along the Old Road to connect from Towsley Canyon lots to the little Taylor Loop lot on the Old Road. Starting at the little lot go as you would normally go counter clockwise back over to the Elder Trail and back toward the Towsley lots. Where you would come down back toward the big lot go left at a little fork. This new trail will take you parallel to the old road and back to the little lot. It's not yet well worn so you might have tromp through a little bit of brush.

I took the Elder then Taylor trail from the big parking lot at the Towsley site and it took me to the small new parking lot near across the street from the freeway's towering concrete refinery machine on the Old Rd. Had to go down Old Rd a little to get back on the trail through another gate. Lupine flowers barely starting to sprout. Just green grass on the trail. If you want a peaceful shorter hike than the big view loop without the crowd, this is it. I will come back in a few more weeks to see if the hills will be covered in flowers, like last year.

Pretty nice trail. If you hit a fire road, you are off-track. However, it is quiet and serene back there, so if you feel like it, you can go explore that way. Not much shade, and the path gets too hot for dog paws when it’s sunny. I have a feeling that it will be very pretty when the rains come.
