Beautiful High Sierra lake near Twin Lakes at Bridgeport. Featuring beautiful high desert and alpine views of the Eastern Sierra and Sweetwater Mountains. Route features a pond about a mile before the lake and herds of Mule Deer among other flora and fauna.

Beautiful hike. The trail isn’t the best marked at the river crossing hiking in from Twin Lakes so be on the look out. It’s a bit overgrown this year so bring your tick spray, other than that it’s beautiful straightforward hike.

Most difficult hike I have ever completed. In my mid 50's, the steep grades seemed to never end in combination with increase in altitude was grueling on me physically. Went with my younger boys who kept me motivated to get to Tamarack Lake. This was one of those hikes you will remember for a lifetime... so glad I pushed through the pain.

similar to the last reviewer the start of this is in the shade of you start early enough, but the main climb is not. I tracked closer to 9 mi than the 8 listed and there is an extra stream crossing right now due to high water flow, feels good though. the mosquitos didn't really come out until the uphill between the two lakes but then they came with a vengeance, bring deet. there is an additional stream crossing and then the last 1/4 mi or the trail is covered in snow so you do have to scramble around to get to tamarack lake. overall I wouldn't do this hike again. it's a bit overgrown and parts are unnecessarily steep when they had space to put in switchbacks.

Was a great hike this weekend. The main side of the creek was very overgrown so had to cross over to the other side. The last 3/4 mile is all snowed out with a rocky scramble / snowpack mix to get up to the lake.

Awesome hike. A lot of different sceneries- all beautiful. Definitely bring a hiking pole, you will need it towards the very end (the lake) when you’re jumping from rock to rock. Short legged dogs might have trouble with this part of the hike.

This a great little hike. It is steep and challenging but not technical. I hiked it for an overnight trip with a seven and four year old but any further would have been too much for them.

Was recommended by someone to go here for snowshoeing we couldn’t find the trail due to all the snow.

A deceptively hard hike with big elevation gain, worth it with such a beautiful clear lake at the end. More small lakes are beyond and the center peak can be seen from 395. Had snow in September, one of my favorite hikes of all time.
