Incredible hike! I would do this again although I wouldn't try to be daring due to the recent death that was on the news about the Indian couple Vishnu Viswanath and Meenakshi Moorthy in October 2018. Thinking back, I even walked down inside a fissure that seemed to have solid grounding underneath between the rocks but I would not attempt that again. This place is so remarkable, you can spend hours taking photos.

This is a nice little hike from the road, I did this one first after driving 4+ hours to Yosemite and it was good way to start great weekend. I't just slightly more than a mile each way, so carry a bottle of water with you. It is really neither an up hill or a down hill trail either, nor is flat. It's small section going slightly up or down till you get close to edge, then the last 300+ feet of the trail is downhill till you get Point. Most of the fissures are to the east (right hand side), so take a little time to view these before making your way out to the point. At the point, you will find 2 over looks, one on the east with some old guard rails, and one to the west without guard rails (where the couple fell off a week or two ago). If you're doing this as group, have someone stay at the guard rail overlook with a camera, while your friends visit the other overlook, you'll get great photos here. Take turns too so everyone get's a photo on the west overlook. Of course, don't fall off and ruin your weekend.

The trail back starts off as uphill, but then is just slight up and downs till you're back at the road. While you won't find water here, you will find a set of porta pottys if you need to go.

The hike is easy enough and the views are amazing, just stay away from the edge!

Easy hike and view was amazing!

1 star just so that you notice; views are breath taking and the hike is easy. It's a 5 star hike.

But, I lost 2 of my friends from the edge of the cliff Oct, 2018 - there are no giard rails at the edge and it gets very windy.

Please be careful up there guys!

awesome views, easy hike

Awesome and my personal favorite after my friend showed it to me. Better for those trying to get away from the crowds. Descends off the road to the cliff's edge. There are about 5 different bluffs all with views of the canyon. No railing so be careful but it gives you a great sense of scope of the park.

Pretty shady until you get to the cliff's edge and a decently moderate gain on your way back.

Not for those with a fear of heights. Awesome views of the valley but I couldn’t bring myself to get close enough to the edges to really get a good view. There is one railing and the point is very large. Trail is pretty easy up until the very end where the elevation change is a little rough going back once you’re finished. Will definitely do again, I’m thinking for sunrise!

If you want one of the best views of the park and to hike one of the most accessible trails, take this hike. The view is absolutely amazing. If you want/can handle a bit more of a challenge, Sentinel Dome is my recommendation, but standing at the edge of a cliff and beholding the fissures of the valley is simply breathtaking. Both Sentinel and Taft make for excellent sunset destinations, the former of which I can personally attest to. If you do one hike on a day trip, this should be it. There's no reason not to. Make it your last activity of the day and the sunset will be the perfect bookend to your visit.

Really great view of El Capitan's dawn wall as well as the fissures. A very nice easy 2 mile hike. Easy to do this one with children or people who can hike very easily.

This is a super easy to follow trail, leads you directly to Taft Point and is clearly marked the entire way. Be prepared to be winded if you’re not used to the elevation.

If there’s one place to go in Yosemite this is it!! Not for the ones afraid of heights as there are no railings and the edge is 4000’ straight down! Most breathtaking place in my opinion!!

The best trail in the entire park with incredible views especially at sunset. A quieter place in Yosemite as well if you arrive early or later in the day. Hoping it stays that way! After a long day though, the hike is a little tiring on the way back because of the incline. Still my favorite hike. Would do it over and over again.

Great hike! Not too bad, not much of an incline. Took us 45 mins - 50 mins to get to the edge. Amazing view of the valley and El Capitan! Don’t forget to take a picture to that other edge of the point. Also, be aware and be prepared for mosquitoes along the hike.. Have off lotion/spray handy with you. Wear windbreakers or layered clothing.

Great little hike we did with our almost 2 year old. He walked the first 3/4 of a mile and we loaded him into a child carrier backpack for the remainder, mostly because he was tired but also because the fissures posed a risk for his fast, wandering legs and because at that point the trail became steeper and rocky for a short time. The view though was spectacular.

Great trail. Fissures are awesome. Very rewarding views at the end. Lots of mosquitoes early today. Bring bug spray.

It's a nice and easy way to get a good view of the valley. Personnally, I think a lot of view point on this side of the valley are similar, so just do one. Taft might be the easiest. You should probably combine with doing sentinel dome (even if it is a bit dissappointing), the whole loop and finishing/starting at glacier point

Easy hike with huge payoff. I proposed to my now fiancé here with beautiful El Capitan and Yosemite falls in view. Damp ground from snow melt in late April made the trail difficult/fun to navigate. A great oppurtunity to see Yosemite from above the valley floor.

Nice short little, easy hike- the ending is fairly amazing, getting to see the fissures and the dropoff at taft point make the hike!

This is an amazingly wonderful hike. Has great views and a fairly easy/moderate skill level. Shady trees in most spots.

We did this hike yesterday. Nervous that it might be too icy/ snowy at this time of year but it was a lovely hike. We hiked up the 4 miles trail & came down this trail. Spectacular day in Yosemite.

Beautiful views, but holy anxiety attack! If you have a fear of heights, skip this trail. I did a quick peek at the overlook and had to take off. The drop off was crazy!
