A short flat hike to the swinging bridge over a slow-moving river with perfect pools for swimming. This approximate 1.5 mile out-and-back hike will take you to a swinging wooden bridge with some great pools to swim in and lay in the afternoon sun. There is also a granite "slide" upriver of the bridge but water your swimsuit, as the tough granite has been known to rip holes in some suits. You will find it hard not to spend all day here, so pack a lunch and have a picnic on the granite slabs in between dips in the river. You can make the hike into a loop by walking back on the opposite side of the river; this road will eventually lead you to the Wawona Lodge.

This one is literally just a bridge and a small path before and after. great after a long day of hiking to cool down with.

If you want to challenge yourself, make it a loop through town and spend the day walking... an additional 4.5 to 5.5 miles.

Easy, mostly flat trail. Very pretty! Kids loved the swinging bridge!! Drive to parking spot was one lane road but worth it!

The beginning of this trail leads to a bridge with a beautiful view of the meadow and some falls. There's even a beach where you can dip your toes into the freezing water. Full of dragonflies, it's magical!

The hike from Chilnualna Road was fine. Coming from the Wawona/Big Trees Lodge was brutal. We expected a flat paced trail that would be easy to bike - not the case! The river at the bridge was awesome for swimming though. Buy an innertube (the store in Wawona sells them), and you can float around and even go down a natural waterside/rapid.

The hike was nothing to write home about, but the river and the swimming pools were very nice!
