NOTE: As of July 2020, the parking lot at this trailhead may be closed due to COVID-19. Please check the park website for updates: https://www.chinohills.org/1635/Coronavirus Sunset Trail is one of the many trails located in the city of Chino Hills. It connects Grand Avenue Park to Sunset Park and features great views of the city and the surrounding mountain ranges as well as a chance to potentially see wildlife. At it's highest point near Grand Avenue Park you can get a great view of Tres Hermanos Ranch which divides the cities of Diamond Bar and Chino Hills.

Both Grand Avenue Park and Sunset Park have restrooms available for use. A couple of benches are on the trail near the Grand Avenue trailhead as well. Grand Avenue Park also has a pretty large parking lot as well.

During hotter months, do this trail either in the early morning or dusk as there is no shade until you get to either of the parks it connects to. Bring a lot of water!

The two trailheads are located at Grand Avenue Park and at Sunset Park. Grand Avenue Park is located off Grand Avenue near the intersection with Chino Hills Parkway. Sunset Park is located off Rancho Hills Drive near Vista Dorada.

It’s not too hard, unless it’s as hot as it is now... 93!

Awesome hike with awesome views! Only downside is that there’s no shade, so a hat is definitely recommended and to start in the crisp early morning. There’s also a bench overlooking the city where you can meditate and reflect. Definitely will come back to see the sunset

The entrance to the trail was closed so we ended up driving to where it ends and while we were beginning our hike we heard a bunch of rattlesnakes so we had to turn back

Cool hike, wasn’t as tough as I thought it would be. I’d personally rate this easy-moderate.

It is open. Please beware that this is hard not moderate as listed. I done Monteverde, La Sierra, and Sunset trails last week and the last trail is the hardest among the threes. My app recorded elevation gain over 1900ft!

First family hike in a long time. One decent hill tells us we need to do this more often! Beautiful scenery. Able to soak in our mountains, the Chino Valley and my beautiful Diamond Bar hills all at the same time.

Nice little trail towards the Grand Ave side. There are two benches at the beginning of the trail that offer a nice view- probably awesome during the spring time, but it was still nice to see some green in the winter months.

Pick up the trailhead market on the south side of the soccer fields to begin the hike. The inclines are good and I took this one beyond the trail end point onto other trail options in the hills.

REALLY muddy the whole way (like stuck all over the bottoms of our shoes) so slippery at times. Great up and down hills workout though, and the views at the top are amazing!

Took my Min. Schnauzer for a walk during a cloudy day after rainfall. Definitely recommend going during spring time when it gets green and all the wildflowers bloom. It is a bit of a workout but so worth it. It’s a small gem in the suburbs. There are pastures where you can see cows to grazing.
