HikingGreat!

This was a great hike! Everyone from our 4 year old and up were able to complete it without difficulty and there was enough to see and explore to keep everyone engaged without thinking of the heat! Also, we went on a weekday and only came across three other hiking groups and no bikers. Each time we came across another group one of us would step well to the side to social distance. Maybe this would be different during a weekend but we had no problem social distancing on the trail and had the rock completely to ourselves.

short trail good for people with fibro or other issues. not the widest or clearest trail so be careful but a good place for animal sightings.

Beautiful bald rock at the end of a short, relatively level hike. Nice way to close out our first day after a visit to the Giant Forest Museum.

It is a very easy trial amidst tall trees. As the name states, view from the rock is outstanding at sunset. It is worth every step to reach here for this view alone, and a pretty easy hike.

This is definitely not a moderate hike - my then 3 yo (the first time there) had not problem with this. I love this hike as it is a great place for kids to get their energy out without taking then on a huge hike. Sunset rock had a wonderful view on clear days. Great place for a picnic. Have seen deer each time there and a bear one time.

Definitely and underrated trail. Very easy to manage but has a nice view at the end. Only complaint is it could’ve been a little longer.

I don't know why more people don't do this hike. It is a very easy hike but it gives you that in the middle of nowhere feel. Little to no traffic. We were the only ones on the trail and were able to travel it with a 6 year old. There may not be much elevation gain but once you get to the end you will see an AMAZING view. One of my favorites in Sequoia. And if you want a romantic sunset to watch over the valley with the mountains in the background, what better place than the place with "sunset" in its name?!

Easy trail. Just go up the steps and into the wilderness. Be careful and watch your step though. I tripped almost several times. Great place to have a lunch break once you reach on that giant rock.

I got there just in time to see the sunset! Just beautiful!!! Easy hike, but after sunset the light goes quickly, bring a flashlight.

This is a nice easy trail out to a big flat rock with great views. Leaving from the Giant Forest museum Im fairly certain it is more like 3 miles out and back, not 6.

It's an easy walk/hike, great scenery along the way as well. You stroll through a pine cone "forest" and over a creek. The panoramic view from the rock is amazing, especially during "sunset." The hike back is slightly downhill , not so much but, I do advise taking flash lights if you do stay and watch the sunset, it tends to darken very quickly since the sun sets behind a mountain range. All in all it is a great hike and I recommend to any hiker, adventure-seeker!
