After doing the main Sunset Peak route twice, I decided to mix things up and try this one. Both routes start off in different places, but join up about a mile-and-a-half from the summit.

Here's how this trail differs from the main route:

- About 1/2 mile longer
- About 100 feet more elevation gain
- Less shade
- Lightly trafficked (didn't see anyone on a Saturday except near summit)
