I did this hike with a Sierra Club/Meetup group on a warm Autumn day. The trail starts out going up Indian Joe Creek Trail which is a pleasant trail along a creek. The creek still had some water in it even at the end of the dry season. The shade of the Oak Trees was appreciated as the hill is pretty steep going from 418 feet to 1165 in 1.65 miles about an 8.5% grade. Most of the hike was in the open with wide open views of local reservoirs and north to Mount Diablo. The reason I took a star off, was that the Upper Maguire Peaks Trail had a couple of minor collapsed sections which were difficult for some of us to negotiate. Along Flagg Hill trail at the end of the day we saw a tarantula, which was pretty cool. I would not recommend this after a rain however, parts could be very slippery.
