This is a rather grueling climb at the start, though it was pretty much all downhill after that. It's a beautiful ride, especially in the spring, as the hills are very green. There are great views of Ojai, mountains, and the ocean/islands in the distance. There is an option to return as a loop on highway 150 to Ojai. Sulfur Mountain Road, from Casitas Springs is a wide dirt road, but it's hard-packed and very good for biking.

Great trail. There is parking at the bottom and at the top. As you get closer to the top there is limited shade. Seems like it would be a great mountain biking trail. Worth the trip but if you do the 10 or the full 20 bring plenty of water.

Great trail, friendly folks, easy-mod hike. Dogs have a great time but keep an eye on them because there is natural tar/sulphur which is a pain to remove. Views are worth the work out.

Nice fire road, went about 5 miles then turned around. Good amount of bikers and not all of them have bells so be alert! Some shade in the beginning but mainly a sunny trail.

Всем привет. Хороший, не сложный хайк. 10 миль в каждую сторону, учтите это.

Pretty heavy traffic, so a lot of dogs out there. Nice white trail not too steep of a grade not technical. Some really awesome views I recommend for anybody in the Ojai, Ventura, Santa Paula area.

Started off HWY 33 near Oak View side. Challenging run, especially the first mile. The path is wide (fire road) and very little shade. Came across quite a bit of hikers and bikers. Beautiful scenery. It’s quite green right now. I wish there was a port-a-potty at the gate.

Good out and back Fire Road. Start on the casitas side off of HWY 33. First 5 miles is a good consistent climb. Last 5 miles to the “summit” has some recovery areas. The best part of Sulfur is that you can see views of Santa Paula, Ventura, the Channel Islands, Ojai, and Lake Casitas all in one hike or Ride. Good downhill speed on a MTB but please take your turns slow. There is consistently people coming up while you’re going down.

Cool spot. Was not that difficult of elevation at all. I only went 5 miles up then 5 miles back down. Some really cool views though. No shady so if you come during the hot season bring water!

Did this hike with a friend. It’s a fire road the entire time. Better for mountain bikers than hiking. We saw lots of bikes and some runners. Not my favorite hike, beautiful views. Some shade, mostly in the sun though. Glad I did it once.

Beautiful walk, wouldn't call it a hike. You could also jog or bike. It is a good workout when you push yourself going uphill, it is an easy walk if you take it slow. Went 4 miles on a Saturday morning 10am, only saw 3 bikers. The rest of the time I enjoyed peaceful solitude. AMAZING views. Would recommend!

Beautiful views! We started at the top of Sulphur Mountain and walked 40 minute out and back. And then a stop at Boccali’s for pizza (no we didn’t walk there)! The views are phenomenal and the trail is very wide. Great for cycling on your bike. Some of the road is paved and some of it is gravel/dirt. There’s no shade however. The trail itself is pretty boring it just winds around. But the views are great. If you start from this direction it’s mostly downhill until you turn around. We parked our car right at the trail fence.

Always a beautiful hike/jog. Trail is very wide, more than enough room for hikers, dogs, and bikers. After the initial climb (about 2 miles) there is very limited shade.

It’s a pretty steady uphill climb the whole way but it’s gradual enough that it’s really not bad. I usually hate uphill hikes but I wasn’t even struggling. The first mile is the most inclined and then it’s more gradual the rest of the way. I went on a June gloomy day though so it might be a little worse on a hot sunny day. The trail is nice and open and super wide. I went on a Sunday morning and passed quite a few hikers and bikers and everyone was very friendly. This hike seems nice because you can go as far as you want and the just turn around and go back.

My girlfriend and I did this hike a week ago, didn’t expect to go as far as we did but enjoyed every minute of it. We made it out to the boyscout camp which was just over 5 miles out. The trail is very wide open and well maintained

Panoramic views of Oakview, wide walking/biking trail and beautiful scenery! We did just over 10 miles (to the Boy Scout camp sign and back) The first 2 miles are elevating hills then after are some flat areas and small climbs of elevation.

This is a very pleasant hike up a fire road. First mile is shaded and quickly rising elevation and the rest is more exposed with a gentle elevation gain. Great views of Ojai and the surrounding grasslands and valleys. Would highly recommend.

While I didn’t hike this in entirety, as a friendly trail runner informed me that he’d seen a mountain lion a ways up, I absolutely enjoyed this hike. The slight incline at the start is lovely, not strenuous as some commenters suggest (I realize this is all relative; but I would consider this easy/moderate compared to other trails like Mt. Wilson etc.). The lush greenery and wild flowers painting the countryside after the rains, a year past the scorching Thomas Fire, is so serene. You can hear water flowing below and birds calling. The trail is very wide and clean with no imposing roots or obstructions. Views of the nearby mountains are sweeping and beautiful. Highly recommended! I’ll be heading back for sure.

Parked at the bottom and took a Lyft to the top, hiked from gate to gate. Beautiful views of the Channel Islands, green hills, Mt. Baldy, etc. Fire road is in good condition. Some fallen oaks around the 2 mile mark down. All of the mountain bikers were very nice & respectful. Great day!
