This is a rather grueling climb at the start, though it was pretty much all downhill after that. It's a beautiful ride, especially in the spring, as the hills are very green. There are great views of Ojai, mountains, and the ocean/islands in the distance. There is an option to return as a loop on highway 150 to Ojai. Sulfur Mountain Road, from Casitas Springs is a wide dirt road, but it's hard-packed and very good for biking.

closed at the moment due to the Thomas Fire. I grew up a couple miles down the road. Beautiful trail, definitely check out after it reopens.

This is an awesome hike for you and your best friend (dog). It starts off as a steady climb and after a mile or so it mellows out. Beautiful scenery definitely will be back.

Love this trail

I did an 18 mile hike as distance training and would probably come back on a mountain bike. It'd make a great non-technical bike trail as it's a very wide fire road. Uneventful and should be rated as easy.

Good trail, very wide and quiet. Almost overly maintained for my liking because it feels like you're just walking up a road (well, you are because it's a fire road), but it's really awesome for biking or trail running.

Stunning views and steady uphill climb (which means return trip is great!). I went 4.5 miles out and turned around... later on I will have to go back and do the whole trail! Nice, wide road, and alternate views of Lake Casitas and the neighboring hills of Ojai, as well as (I think, unless it was just haze) a distant view of the ocean.

Was able to hike it from the bottom and get picked up on the top past the last gate. Every bit of 11 miles. Good workout at a pace (about 3.2 MPH). A good (basically) all uphill hike. 3.5 hours starting before 6:am. Didn't see a soul - and great views of the ocean, islands then in certain spots Ojai to the left. Perfect marine layer day for cool but could still see the islands.

Good hike, wide open trail. Great views. Not may hikers on the trial but lots of mountain bike riders.

I've hiked about 3 miles in and back twice now and I love this hike. The views are awesome, it's quiet, and it's nice and wide so I can spot snakes a ways off (I'm paranoid) and strenuous enough without feeling like I'm going to die. Bring water. It gets hot.

Wide open ranch road makes for good mountain biking or hiking. Get dropped off at the top for almost 12 miles of (almost) all downhill fun or start at the bottom and power your way up for as long as you can stand before hitting the downhill. Makes for a great hike as well. The first few switchbacks are fairly steep but have a nice natural oil seep that makes for a great lesson on oil production in ventura county. You'll often see cows wandering around on the trail...just give them space and a little time and they'll usually move along.

Hiked the first 2.5 miles of this trail from the west side (closer to Ventura). It is a wide trail, a fire road with a fairly consistent grade. In 2.5 miles the elevation gain was over 700 feet. In early spring the hills were still fairly green, lots of wildflowers blooming away and the birds were out in full force. The trail is easily accessible and can be hiked or run or biked, your choice.
