Creds /stats: AllTrails Pro. 17.2 mi. 3114’ El Gain. Moving time 7hrs 26 minutes. 3 liters water. Breakfast, snacks, and lunch.

Started 8:am, Friday 14 Dec 2018. Went / recommend Counter clockwise. Beautifully overcast so no direct sun entire hike.

Went up exposed Sullivan Ridge Trail. Began with Scramble about 20’ up to get to ridge trail. Then at 6.8 mi in, butte sliding descent for 200 to 300’ per AllTrails and turned out that part of trail closed per sign at bottom. Alternative path to go around that section shown on map. About 8 mi in, about 100’ scramble up to get to ridge per AllTrails. Skipped and went around. 9.9 mi in Trail marked as closed. Doable but can go to next trail marked as ‘Backbone trail ‘ as work around. Took J drop down to Will Rogers Trail that runs along ‘creek’. Note the stairs. Germans tried to build secret hideout during World War 2 with hopes of overtaking LA ( recommend Secret Stairs of LA)

Great lunch spot at The Hubb / Cathedral Rock, marked as way point on my map.

My photos show scramble sections, closed signs, and incredible views.

Views were incredible, from snow covered Mt Baldy to Catalina.

Traffic was very light.

Definitely would do again as long as overcast.
