Great view of Strawberry Valley, streams, and the lovely San Jacintos. This is a beautiful relatively easy (but very uphill) hike through the lush wonders of the San Jacintos. You will enjoy every minute. Suicide Rock is a great place to peer over the edge and contemplate life. You can also wonder what life might have been like for the Cahuilla version of Romeo and Juliet who legend says ended their lives here. The views are standard fare for the San Jacinto Wilderness - that is amazing. You get a great shot across Strawberry Valley at Lily Rock and Tahquitz Peak, and you can take in the heights looking up at Marion Mountain and Jean Peak. Don't miss the short trek to the peak, where there is a register in a smiley face can at the top. Feel free to explore all around the edge of Suicide Rock, there are plenty of viewing platforms, but do be careful near the edge.

It was 4 miles to the top, slow and steady incline the entire time. Plenty of shade throughout and pretty purple flowers all the way up. A bit buggy so bring bug spray for the hike. The top is pretty spread out if you want to hang and grab a snack and be socially distinct. We jogged the majority of the trail down. All in my GPS said 7.7 miles and took us 2:36. If you park right at the highway you don’t have to pay the fee.

Great hike, plenty of shade and views along the way. I’ll second someone else, the hike is somewhere between 8.0 and 8.3 miles round trip.

I started my hike around 9am on a weekday. The trail is well maintained and has plenty of shade. The incline was gradual throughout the trail. It was a very nice hike and the view is great!

Completed this hike on 5/20. Well worth the effort to go early and get a parking spot at the trailhead. It is also easier to manage heat and shade the earlier you go. The difficult part for me and my partner was actually the beginning, it gets much easier once you get closer to the junction. The view is amazing and there are lots of spots to have lunch or hang out and see mortars on the rocks. The ranger station to pick up wilderness permits is closed so no way to get permits. If you have an adventure pass it’s not a bad idea to hang it on your car. Please pack in and pack out, had to clean up some spots of the trail with leftover trash when we went.

This is actually 8.2 miles round trip. Beautiful views, wild flowers, great place for lunch at suicide rock.

Fairly easy hike. There is a small waterfall about 2 miles up, it still had water flowing. Beautiful views at the top.

It was a challenge but worth the view. At the peak, you have a beautiful view of Taquitz Rock. I reccomend starting early due to the area getting packed later in the day.

First time hiking this trail. It was a challenge but so worth it getting to the top!

I would consider myself an amateur hiker and this trail was fairly challenging but well worth it! We had lunch at the top and enjoyed every second! We will be doing this hike again.

Beautiful trail all the way. Nice waterfall about about a mile before the rock. Nice crisp Elsie, we started at 7am. No one on the trail until we were on our way down.

Blown away by this hike, a lot because I had the whole thing to myself setting up at 7:15 a.m. Only saw humans when en route down (weekday). Had the top to myself, too! Super well-maintained and clear the whole route. Did not seem like nearly 8 miles at all. Permit was (that day) unnecessary per the note at the closed Ranger Station, but display Adventure Pass in your parked car. WELL worth the effort to get started early, even if you are driving in from afar.

The views at the top are really spectacular... worth every foot of elevation gain. The trail itself is also quite lovely and has a small cascading waterfall about 1 mile from the top.

What a beaut! The views from the top were breathtaking. I had to sit and soak it all in for about a half an hour. Now I wish I’d stayed for longer!

Busy trailhead but open during COVID, so wonderful opportunity to get outside for some distanced exercise!

Great hike. Wonderful waterfall. Didn’t make it to the top but had a great time with two boys and three adults. Definitely recommend and can’t wait to come back and do the whole thing!

As of 4/23/2020, it was still open. The trail is easy/moderate. A lot of snow in the higher elevations of the peaks. The snow is melting so there is a stream with a stunning waterfall 1/3 mile before you get to the top. The views are marvelous!!!! I Highly recommend it!!!!
