Great view of Strawberry Valley, streams, the lovely San Jacintos This is a beautiful relatively easy (but very uphill) hike through the lush wonders of the San Jacintos. You will enjoy every minute. Suicide Rock is a great place to peer over the edge and contemplate life. You can also wonder what life might have been like for the Cahuilla version of Romeo and Juliet who legend says ended their lives here. The views are standard fare for the San Jacinto Wilderness - that is amazing. You get a great shot across Strawberry Valley at Lily Rock and Tahquitz Peak, and you can take in the heights looking up at Marion Mountain and Jean Peak. Don't miss the short trek to the peak, where there is a register in a smiley face can at the top. Feel free to explore all around the edge of Suicide Rock, there are plenty of viewing platforms, but do be careful near the edge.

Didn't love the trail, can be confusing if you didn't do your research beforehand.
Starts at Deersprings trailhead.
Plenty of parking.
Be sure to grab a permit at the ranger station coming through town.
Isn't my favorite trail, but the view at the end is incredible. Made it worth it. We were also lucky and got a pretty strong stream to look at. I would imagine it dries up in the summer.

Bring lots of water, a hat, and some snacks to enjoy at the top.
Please pack out your trash!

An amazingly beautiful trail - classic manzanita/pine habitat and definitely steep enough to keep you honest. Views at the top are some of the nicest in So Cal. Not nearly as crowded as I thought it would be.
Deer springs trail gives you the option to link up with the PCT, and several other trails for multi day trips.
You need a wilderness permit from the ranger station to hike deer springs

Very pretty trail. Nice steady uphill and the views from the top are amazing. The REAL name of the trail is Deer Springs. It's right across the street from the Idyllwild Nature Center, literally. Parking is along the road and there is a small lot. Don't forget you need a pass at the ranger station which is about 1 mile before the trailhead. Really enjoyed this hike and the people I met coming back down. Only 10 hikers total that I saw.

The beginning of this trail is actually Deer Springs. This is how the trail head is marked and what it's called on the paper from the Ranger Station. You will need a day permit from the Ranger Station in Idyllwild. About 3/4 mile up is a beautiful view from an expanse of rocks. 2.3 miles up is the turn off for Suicide Rock trail. Or you can go left to Strawberry Junction and beyond. This trail should be called Deer Springs to Suicide Rock.

From Idyllwild town take 243 highway towards the desert after the stop sign the trail is on the right hand side . Make sure you stop get parking pass and hike permits. Pretty nice hike, not a lot of shade if weather is hot make sure to take plenty of water, once you get to final fork you will see the sign to suicide rock trail . It could be sandy and rocky take comfortable shoes view is amazing just like Idyllwild itself . Make sure you have parking pass, rangers go randomly to check. have fun hikers

Harder than I thought it would be. I went in 4/17. Plenty of water in the creeks. Nice view of the valley and Taquitz peak and Lilly rock. When you get to the rock platform go through the bushes to get to the ledge. Be careful. Awesome hike. I think a good practice for Strawberry Cienega and the peak.
