Part of Stream trail is closed. You can still make a loop, but it’s a bit shorter.

We did this a week after heavy rains. The stream was alive and the redwoods and ferns looked happy. Stream trail/Mill trail/Madrone are mostly shaded up until the peak where it connects to West Ridge. We backtracked there because it was getting late and we had lost track of time. This may have gotten 4 stars if West Ridge has a view, so we’ll update next time. Stream Trail is mostly flat and muddy, highly trafficked, and nice redwoods. Mill trail and Madrone are intermediate climbs, you’ll get a workout but nothing super strenuous. There are several bathrooms near the beginning of Stream trail. I love how close this park is and all the trail possibilities!

Starting with the steep Bridle Trail and ending with the flat Stream Trail was lovely. Beautiful ridge and redwoods. Lush. Wonderful way to spend three hours.

Great redwood forest. Mostly covered. Saw a bunny, a couple lizards, and some turkey vultures. Stream wasn’t running - would love to come back in winter to enjoy the water! Lots of trail runners. A couple horseback riders.

Nice trail under the redwoods, next to the stream. Then a somewhat hard climb to the peak. Good work out!

Took west Ridge Trail, Redwood Peak trail then stream trail which was all up hill then going down. Nice setting of trees with lots of shade as well. No real hill views except one part but still worth the hike!

Beautiful trail lots of redwoods, shade, streams. Lots of friendly people with dogs. We had small dogs on leash and came across dog walkers with large quantity of unleashed big dogs, quite scary, I wish people would keep their dogs in packs on leash.

Beautiful Redwoods trail system! Once I was on the stunning Fern trail there was very little traffic. The trails intertwine in this area and at times I was on the French Trail, Chown Trail and the Redwood trail. which made it adventuresome. The wildflowers are all in bloom with a variety of colors. The variation in temperature makes this area great for hiking because of the redwoods microclimate it offers. I was warm and perspiring in the sun but found plenty of relief from the redwoods cool microclimate and forest shade. Very welcoming indeed.

Mill Trail was closed so we stayed on Stream and wrapped around to meet up with Madrone. Added a little distance - we ended up doing 6.2 total. FYI if you're doing this trail soon!

Great moderate hike. Nice mix of flat, a reasonably tough climb, and then a good descend. If you have bad knees though watch out -- the descend is pretty steep.

We hiked the Orchard Trail to connect with the West Ridge Trail and then back down the Chown Trail. Total was about 6 miles or so. Easy hike, not difficult inclines for us. The Orchard Trail is beautiful and cool temperature because of all the shade. I actually found the West Ridge Trail boring in terms of scenery and it was much more exposed. Great location though - would do it again. Dogs loved it

Great hike! You warm up with an easy stroll along stream trail, then make the climb up to west ridge, and it's all downhill from there. Stream trail was washed out about a mile in from the Redwood gate and there were a handful of trees down along the hike from the rainy season. But all the rain has made the forest very lush. This hike takes you on French trail for a little bit, which is my favorite trail in the park. I've been to this park about a dozen times now, but this was my first time on Madrone Trail. So that was a nice change of pace. A few mountain bikers came up on me at the steep descent on West Ridge. Luckily I was able to get out of the way fast because they wouldn't have been able to stop. Be careful on West Ridge as that is the part of the bike loop.
