Stream, Mill and French Trail Loop is a 4.4 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Oakland, California that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, running, and bird watching and is best used from April until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars is because I went super late in the day and had to navigate in the complete dark with the light on my phone. Moderate trail with decent incline, great scenery and wild life. I was able to see turkeys and rabbits. From my pictures you can see where I was walking with day light. I enjoyed the trail till that point, however the sun went down and it was completely dark. Started to lowkey panic Felt like I was in the Blair witch project lol. Overall still enjoyed the hike and was happy to see civilization. I would recommend this trail. During the day.
I rated this trail a “4 Star” because it started from a fun day mode to a survival fun night mode. In the beginning of the day I saw many rabbits and turkeys. Throughout the night time it was a tricky situation, yet felt as if I was in a movie “The Evil Dead” moment.. Me feeling like Ash Williams by helping out my freind throughout our survival journey. Overall, it was fun!.
Well maintained and easy to follow. Lots of poison oak so stay on the trail. :)
An amazing loop trail along a creek through a lush fern and Redwood forest.
Beautiful trail but get ready for lots of steep up and downs. Also about 5 miles.
Endless steep hills going up and down. Not very many switchbacks. Definitely a good workout!
A bit longer than stated. I would recommend doing the French trail section first as that part is harder/steeper. Really lovely and shaded.
