Such a great trail with the kids! Lots of things to see - birds, flowers, turtles, waterfalls. We ended up on the paddle boats and went around the lake twice and then walked around lake and up to the top of the waterfall.

loved this hike and several different scenery.i took my inlaws visiting here from louisiana.they were more then in love with the view.my two kids (3yrs old & 11yrs old) loved it also.gave them a chance to run around and be kids.it was great having friendly people through the whole hike.the hike really didnt seem long but it is a big wrap around.my 3yr old does not like walking long but thankfully he loved this hike.his first hike went great.it is a good amount of people through it.i had went on a wensday but wasnt too bad.no fees, there is row boats and paddle boats but closed at this time due to covid 19.i highly suggest this for a all levels including kids.best view is at the very top of the hill.

Nature trips

Went with my family (easy for a young kid) and observed lots of plants and birds. seems like an extension on the botanical gardens with all the flora to be seen. Saw a number of waterfowl (Canada geese, mallards, great blue herons, night herons...). A fair number of people on the paths as well. Easy street parking right next to the outer path. The ducks are very used to people and expect to be fed (which we didn't - please don't feed the ducks, for their own good!)

It's cool. Very crowded with people even with social distancing.

Happened to go on a day where the sun was out so it was a plesant walk. if you are walking around the base/exterior of Stow Lake, it is pretty easy. The steps going up Strawberry Hill are a little steep but not that hard. Not much of a view at the top since the trees are blocking , but a nice place where there were numerous people reading. The most unpleasant thing was the dirty pond/reservoir that was located around the middle of the hill right behind the falls. Huntington Falls is pretty for an artificial falls since it pools between stepping stones (man-made) and runs into Stow Lake. The smell close to the falls was not a fresh scent, but I won't say it was terrible or unbearable. Overall, a pleseant hike/walk away from the city.

Great little trail. Cool history to it. We also went out to the Japanese tea garden, which is why our distance is longer than the 2.0 mi.

I really liked this trail. Although you can hear the sounds of the city in the distance, they have done a wonderful job putting this together. It would be even better when they have the waterfall turned on. Looks like the stream would run through the separations between the pads on the east part of the island.

Walking

Too many joggers for me if you want a nice leisurely stroll enjoying the scenery. Two times now when I have went to enjoy walking my dogs, a track team called West Valley Track has been sprinting around the inner lake trail with several groups of runners nearly knocking us iff the trail several times. It was highly annoying since they are running at full speed in groups of 10 or more and doing several laps. When I inquired with the coach about why he has so many grouos running at the same time kicking up a lot of dust and nearly running us over every few minutes he just shrugged me if. So what was once a nice walk has now turned into a must avoid unfortunately.

Running

Yes, wonderful morning hike/run. But I want to comment that the precise distance of the trail loop is 1.017 miles. 5370 feet. I have measured that several times with a 3 foot diameter rolling wheel. That is staying within a foot or two of the shortest distance around the curves. As a runner, I'm interested in precise distances to get an accurate view of distance covered.

Stow lake is a lovely walk. You can rent paddle boats or sit on numerous benches to watch the lakes. Also, in the spring great blue herons nest in the trees on the west side of the lake - check it out!

I've walked countless times here. And have taken countless boat tours. Always enjoyable. A nice easy hike up Strawberry Hill for nice views of the Richmond and Sunset Districts.

It was very peaceful along the lake. We saw squirrels, geese, turtles. Bridges and waterfalls. A little log shack with food to enjoy. Easy walk even with bad knee.
