Decent hike with nice views of Mt. Baldy and the city. Lots of annoying bugs. We were so happy we brought mosquito nets for our heads. We may have turned back if we didn’t have them. Wear long pants and bring hiking poles. The last part of the hike to the summit is very steep and overgrown. Beware there is a nest of red harvester (or fire?) ants at the summit and they are mean little assholes. I was resting against a rock and one crawled down the back of my shirt and stung me three times in my back and shoulder. I was in pain for most of the hike back down to the car.

This trail reminds me of Strawberry Peak. With that said this is a great hike. The pics on this trail do not do it justice. The AllTrails direction to get there is spot on (except) when you get to the parking lot (it looks really small) continue down the dirt trail there is a bigger lot to there to park. Now the trail itself is easy wide and gradual (another except) there are no signs anywhere for the trail. So when you come across the Private Driveway signs just continue on the road. It's not private to hikers just autos. Once you finally reach the top. It will be a flat area (it will look like a meadow) stop there as to continue to the Peak you must make a right on a side trail. Now you have two false Peaks before you reach your final destination. But please continue as the false Peaks look a bit challenging but there very easy to climb and not very long.

Great trail, but I'll have to say it's over grown just when you're about to get to the peak (and come across the truck trail). I had a bit of a problem finding where the Stoddard Trail continued, just keep following the map, the trail is about shoulders width apart. Might need waterproof boots and don't forget bug stray.

The majority of the trail is very pleasant - about 50% of it is shaded, it’s a “truck trail” so it is very wide and the incline is steady but totally manageable even for less experienced hikers. There is an interesting settlement of charming cabins on the way up and you have to cross three creeks to continue on the trail. Beautiful views of the mountains and valleys. Cons: tons of flies (bring big spray!) and the summit approach is totally overgrown with thorny bushes. We decided to continue on the truck trail instead of trying to fight our way though the brush. Overall, pleasant hike and we would do it again, just with big spray next time.

It was a nice trail if you have 4-5 hours to spare. The first 2 miles was easy and pretty flat but the last 1 mile was hidden behind the overgrown. We passed the fork and had to turn around. Make sure to wear long pants, those shrubs could be pretty annoying. The view was great on the peak and make sure that you sign the registry. p.s. LOOOOTS OF BUGS

The initial trail was easy however halfway through where we need to make the right to the peak was not clearly marked. Once we were on it, it was very overgrown and with lots of shrubs and loose rocks. The view was great on top of the peak. Very limited parking space.

Hiked 9.22.19 started at 8:30am, got to the peak at 10:30, stayed until 11 and made it back to the car by 1pm. Only passed 1 other person on the trail, a nice change from the other crowded hikes in the area. Loads of bugs, the trail was overgrown- we missed the fork off the main path to the peak and had to back track. Saw bear droppings on the main path right past the split in the trail to the peak and a bobcat at the first false peak. Shaded in the beginning. Nice view at the top.

Beautiful view when you reach the peak. The trail for the first 2 miles is great, the last mile up is overgrown. It’s hard to find the trail at times. Best to wear pants and long sleeves. Only ran into 2 other groups the whole time. Thought it would be busier on a Sunday morning. It is private property but foot traffic is allowed.
