Portions of the upper trail indicated on the map are washed out or overgrown, but the lower trail that seems to match the elevation profile is in excellent shape. Some impressive views of downtown and the mountains visible towards the Presidio Drive end of the trail.

This is a great trail for the pups. Not too much of a a change in incline. Just watch out for all of the gopher and mouse holes in the trail. Our little one fell a couple of times in them.

If you are looking for something close by, easily accessible and a nice, easy couple of miles this is a great hike. You are kind of near to the road and it’s definitely not secluded. But there are only a few hikes I can make it to before it’s dark after work and this is the one I find myself doing most. We usually only run into a few other people. This Friday evening I only ran into one other group. The upper portion gets a bit overgrown with wildflowers and grass in the spring. It’s quite long now so if that bothers you stick to the lower trail.

Parking is on the corner of Overhill Dr. and Stocker Street. Good and easy trail, not many people on a Sunday morning.
