Pretty decent walk that gets busy only towards the summit. Couple of extra steep sections on the way up.

There are many variations of this general route, and the flora changes drastically with the seasons, so it never really gets old. In the summer it can be brutally hot, so bring lots of water (3+ Liters) and plan on filling up at the top. Wear light long-sleves, light pants, and a wide-brimmed hat in the summer -- it's 80% direct sun. In the winter/spring months there are multiple streams that come to life with the trade off of wet and muddy trails that will slow your pace.

Lots of manure in the front section (before the cattle gate), which was accompanied by tons of flies. Did the Loop clockwise. The back (northern) half was more exposed. Might try an out and back next time.

This is a fabulous hike. Definitely one of the more difficult hikes on Diablo. A clear winter day gave me great views. This is a great training hike; it’s got good gain, a variety of terrain and decent mileage. Stoked!

Very easy to navigate, largely fire road, still beautiful wild flowers along the trails and 2-3 bathrooms as well. Quite exposed so lots of water will be good if the temp gets above 70s. I didn’t realized there was a road goes to the top with parking lot. I will definitely hike again especially in early spring time !
