Park in small street adjacent to trailhead. This is an easy to moderate hike depending on trails you follow. You can make as difficult as you want by going uphill to the ridge but it is all rock. I started at 4 and it was warm but there was a breeze which kept it cool. You would really want rock boots for the ridge part of this trail, it is all rock. The back side of trail, to the south, is all construction of a new housing tract so this part of the trail is not a pretty one for half of it. Of the trails I have done in San Luis Obispo, this is the least maintained. Virtual Treadmill video of this hike can be seen on my YouTube Channel, copy and paste link below to watch it. Great little trail for a hike, but not as worth it for mountain biking. The parts of the trail that would be the most fun to bike ( that take you to the overlooks ) are foot travel only.

Great little trail that was fun for the whole family. Went with my wife, 5 year old and 2.5 year old. Rocks were a little tough for the little ones but amazing views all around. Fun to watch planes take off and fly overhead. Will be doing it again.

Actually a harder trail than it appears to be in descriptions. There's a lot of scramble to get to the top of the ridge. The fog came in on the way up so the views were obstructed somewhat. There are some additional loops trails that don't show on maps that caused me to get turned around. The whole area though is unobstructed so you can see where you are. Part of the hike is land owned by ranchers who allow easement, watch out for cow droppings, very heavy in some areas.
