The Smoke Tree Trail begins at a very low utilization trailhead. It's a very easy half mile hike to the Palo Comado Canyon Trail. The trail goes through grasslands with a few scattered oaks. It's a typical landscape for the open space area north of the 101 from the eastern side of Thousand Oaks to western Los Angeles.

Very fine hike. I went north on the Palo Comado Canyon Trail for about a mile and a half. Very tranquil hike with no vestiges of the surrounding urban environment.
