really cool hike. i recommend taking the detour to waterfall, then come back to chalk mountain. the chalk mountain part is open(uncovered) and can be desert like with the gravel, and can be intimidating in sunny weather. When getting back though lots of places with fallen trees and very low or no foot traffic so pretty pristine if you like that. Ends up being approx 19 miles with detour. Have fun.

A pretty beautiful trail. Not too busy for a Friday around lunchtime. The first 1-1 1/2 is relatively easy and level while the last mile is a relatively steep incline. We were happy that this particular trail was a hikers-only trail.

OMG! This trail offers Everything you could potentially ask from a hike. Falls, the forest, the ocean views, isolated trails, birds, wild flowers I mean you name it. Start from the Falls for sure. (Warning: the falls is not on the All Trails map for this hike, if you see my recording you can see what I did there) after the falls the second half of the trail! I saw no one literally not even one person. Good portion of that part you are deep in the forest so I would suggest not hiking alone although it was super safe still not seeing even one person is not the best feeling in the forest :). The only technical part was the section where I had to walk on a fallen tree on a wide waterfall. Other than that I would say nothing technical. But you definitely have to be in shape. And if you start from the other side not the falls first, you really need to be fit because the hills are really steep. Enjoy your hike! This is well worth it. Last but not least, some part of the hike there is no shade, I would suggest not doing this hike on a hot summer day ;)

Beautiful, varied terrain. Last mile to summit I'd call "hard" difficulty due to steepness. Lovely views and greenery abounds though.

Great hike! Good climb, but not bad at all.
