12 Mile loop hike leaving Bear Valley visitor center and starting out with a difficult climb up Mt. Wittenberg trail, a hike along Sky Trail to Coat Trail then to Arch Rock and returning via Bear Valley Trail.

It’s really nice hike with all combine. Bear valley trail is almost flat with no elevation gain along with stream and forest. Arch rock is already collapsed, so avoid it. Sky trail has smoothly elevation gain with good view of pacific.

Beautiful countryside... I agree - should not be classified as hard. It is 11 miles, but its rolling hills. The arch is no longer there, as I believe it collapsed during the historic winter of 2016-2017. Still well worth it. Completed this today with my three young boys and their grandfather!

Gorgeous hike, but it appears the trail to see Arch Rock is shut down. It was piled high with sticks and brush to close off the trail.

NOT HARD. A beautiful hike through forest and ridge tops with stunning views of the ocean, but not difficult by any stretch. It is a long hike but we found it to be moderate at best.

Enjoyed all 11.3 miles today (3.23.2017). I highly recommend wearing long pants as the trail has plenty of poison oak & stinging nettles - they bite. Gorgeous scenery and trails full of intrigue and adventure. Highly recommend it. Perfect time of the year.

I did this hike yesterday! Definitely worth it, I took a right at the trail head to ascend the Mt. Wittenberg Trail (400 m / 1300 ft. elevation gain. A couple switch backs in between but beautiful terrain and this route was less crowded then coming back. Keep on following the Sky Trail, you will see some signs. All said and done it was almost 11 miles (17km). Took me a little over 3 hours. Arch Rock was hard to get to because the direct path was covered in intentional debris. But it's still worth going down and seeing the coast!

Loved it. Many views. Love that you can camp after 3 miles or 9.

The very best for running. Tough start but the rest is relatively easy for trail runners.

Beautiful hike. I love doing the uphill part first and then having a nice relaxing hike the rest of the way.

We had lunch on the beach. Took a swing on the buoy swing.

Cruised back to the parking lot on the very easy ending.

In the field next to the last outhouse there are some nice tree benches for a little nap before returning to civilization.

We started from Bear Valley Trailhead, hiked up to the Sky Trail and went down to the Kelham Beach. We walked all the way the section of the crumbled Arch Rock in the Point Reyes National Seashore. From the beach we returned to the Bear Valley Trail and back to the trailhead. The weather was perfect, partial sunny, no wind..It was a wonderful hike.

Okay hike. Path down to the ocean is easy hike back is much different. Arched rock was closed which was a bummer.

Accessed this trail from Old Pine Trail on the way to connect to Coast Trail. Moderate hills at times, pretty scenery, nice first glimpse of the ocean.

Great hiking, and plentiful, free parking - I arrived at 9am on a Saturday and there were loads of empty spots, and when I left around 1pm there were still spaces and plenty of cars pulling out. It was a foggy day though, so might fill up when the forecast is good.

Lovely forest and nice coastline, I can't really speak to the views because of the fog (not the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5). Not too easy but also not strenuous if you're in reasonable shape. Unfortunately the overlook for arch rock collapsed recently, and apparently most of the formation is also gone.

The bear valley trail at the end had some hikers, but other than that didn't see too many other people. In total it took me about 4 hours.

Started at Mt Whitenberg (?) instead. Made it a 13.7 mile loop. Just phenomenal. Rarely saw anyone until getting to Arch Rock and Bear Valley Trail. Highly recommend. Loop top about 4.5 hours-would certainly take longer in a group.

An awesome, longer hike that combines a harder climb in the beginning and ends with beautiful coastal views and and easy walk out.
Start out climbing from the parking, take a right towards Mt. Wittenberg, and start climbing. Only really difficult part of the hike, nice to get it out of the way. Once up top, start winding your way towards the water and begin the easy walk along the coast. You can shoot down to the water, pick blueberries, and remain fairly isolated until you hit Arch Rock. From there, take the well-trafficked 4 mile jaunt back to the lot.
