You can also purchase a park specific annual pass for $55. This loop contains .5 miles of walking along the paved campground road. It's pretty easy and it's really tempting to go off trail and climb the rocks. It's a little bit crowded near the Skull rock and the parking lot but not so much on the actual trail itself. Lots of interesting rock formations, definitely worth the hike!

The first part of the trail, which starts at skull rock, is interesting and gives a good view of the jumbo rocks. The middle goes through the campground, which is fine, but the trail then crosses the road. The section on the other side of the road is pretty, but more difficult. The final section of the trail is almost impossible to actually follow. We eventually left what we thought was the trail and crossed the road back to our vehicle.

This is a cool area with lots to climb on. The skull rock looks cool, but you are shooting right into the sun in the morning. Can be busy with families since the skull is very accessible. The trail around the rocks is pretty good, except for the part where you walk along the road in the camp ground. The big highlight for this area is how easy it is to climb on the boulders.

Trail was quite easy and well signalled. However some portions were a bit too sandy and we had to pass through a camping area for quite some time.

Nice to maneuver yourself thru the rocks using hands and feet if you go off trail. Saw a jackrabbit, desert chipmunk and plenty of lizards. Lots of tarantula holes.

Pretty quick and easy trail! Skull Rock is definitely photo-worthy. Beware of the bees though!! There seemed to be quite a lot when I went - early August + around 8am.
