Decent trail in the woods. Nothing to scenic or interesting views. Good for a stroll or biking. Maybe it would be better in the spring with wildflowers.

Completed clockwise. Nice, moderately challenging hike that’s pretty much shaded throughout. Mostly 8+ foot wide trail for the first 4+ miles, so if you want an easier time, going counterclockwise is probably easier. From miles 4.75 to 6 trail gets pretty steep, narrow, rocky and muddy. Make sure to wear proper footwear. No real vistas at any point during the trail.

Absolutely magical hike, SO much cool fungi (especially one I’ve never seen before!) ... a few downed trees to climb over/under from recent strong winds but really incredible hike. Saw only two others on a Monday.

Very one dimensional... the same views the entire time. It was nice to have forest views but a little variety would have been nice. We did the small jaunt over to the Old growth Redwood (which is just one beautiful tree). This would probably 3.5-4 stars but the number of mountain bikers made this less pleasant, having to constantly move over or be in fear of being run over. It was nice, though that overall this trail was not crowded and avoided the craziness of other parks on a holiday day off. Parking was easy and plenty of spots in the lot. Toilets were clean and stocked with sanitizer.

Great hike and workout. Not many people on the trail, was by myself 90% of the time. A bit muddy, but not too bad. Several parking spots were available at 10am on a Sunday.

HikingGreat!

Nice well-shaded hike on mostly broad trails. Only a few other hikers and a few bikers mid-week. The return up Steam Donkey Trail was a pretty good uphill climb. Our total distance clocked in at 7.7 miles (not 6.4) on the app. Perhaps we started at a different parking lot on Skyline?

Went clockwise, trail was fairly easy apart from one section about halfway that’s really steep for a while. Walking in the fog surrounded by trees was amazing. By the end of the hike though, most of it had lifted. Saw some newts, banana slugs, and fungi. Parking was fine and there’s some restrooms at the beginning.

Great trail with lots of shades. There are some ups and downs with a decent amount of elevation, good for workout but not too strenuous.

It was a decent hike, you go downhill first then uphill coming back out. Parking lot was full at 9am on a Sunday but there's a parking lot about half a mile past the trailhead if you're heading NW on 35 at a different Sierra Morena trailhead so we ended up parking there without a problem and did the trail from a different start point. Overall my GPS tracked 7.2 miles, 1740 ft of elevation, and we did it in 2.5 hours. The trail is mostly shaded, with nice redwoods but not super special. I hiked in this area in the spring a few years back during the rain and that was actually a lot more beautiful with the mist kind of drifting down between the trees, right now it's fairly crowded and nothing super special to see. Most people were wearing masks when passing. Lots of mountain bikers, mostly unmasked but they were pretty good at letting you know they were coming, and parts of the trail are pretty nice and wide. Lots of turns to make sure you have offline maps or load the alltrails map just to make sure you stay on track.
