Leave Hwy 49 at Sierra City by turning left on Sierra Buttes Road. In about 300 ft you turn left at a junction with several roads, following the one signed with "Sierra Buttes Lookout". Follow the paved road to the dump entrance, after which the road makes a sharp right turn, heads uphill, and becomes dirt (still fine for passenger cars). Eventually you'll cross over where a large stream flows under the road in a culvert. Between that stream and the turnoff to the Columbo Mine is a small stream and a clump of trees where you can pull several vehicles off the road.
