Shoreline Park is a 1.4 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Santa Barbara, California that offers scenic views and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for walking and running and is accessible year-round.
This short and sweet gentle paved trail has great beach views. Accessibility: The trail surface is smoothly paved concrete and typically at least five feet wide. The estimated grade is mostly gentle, all 3% or less except for a steep section between 8% and 12% at 0.7 miles where assistance may be needed.
For my final hike, I finished where we started. Our first hike as a class brought me so much joy and happiness. Seeing everyone together warmed my heart; it is unfortunate that we didn't end the semester together. Taking this mini hike brought back those feelings though. Beautiful morning, grateful mood. I am grateful for this class and what it has brought me.
Nice short paved trail with great views of the ocean and Santa Barbara coastline
This first class with the hike was amazing. For starters, it was so nice to be able to socialize with fellow classmates in an outdoor setting. It gave me a sense of normalcy and I met some really cool people!! This short little hike was beautiful and simple. I had yet to that area so It introduced to a new piece of Santa Barbara. Also, hiking in the morning really helped me get a productive start to my day. After the hike, I jumped in the ocean and hung out for a while! It was lovely. I’m excited to go on more hikes with the class!
This hike was fun. I mainly stayed at the back of the line with the caboose, Sydney. This hike didn’t really have a big elevation gain but Idefinitely sweated and felt the burn. On my body, it wasn’t really demanding but it was nice to get out especially on a nice clear morning like today. This was a fun experience and I’m excited for this class.
Lots of cute dogs. An easy walk for beginners, with smooth pavement paths and soft grass. Weather isn’t always the greatest, as it is foggy on the Mesa very frequently. I like the fact that the uphill portion of the hike was at the beginning, the middle portion was flat and the last portion was downhill, with a nice view.
This hike was very nice. Although it was on pavement there were many nice views of the ocean. It was pretty cold in the beginning so I wasn’t too hot, but towards the end it got warmer. It wasn’t too tiring because it wasn’t up hill most of the time.
Overall I thought for a introduction hike it was great because it wasn’t hard so I was able to get a feel for how the hikes will usually go. The weather outside wasn’t hot nor cold it was in between which was nice. I also enjoyed the great view of the beach and the ocean. I thought the class being distanced would be weird but it wasn't as bad as I thought and I though it worked out just fine. For a first hike I thought I had a lot of fun and I would record this hike/walk again.
Very nice weather and day. Easy hike and I loved watching the waves crash.
The hike had nice weather, great views, and a gentle slope. Took some mice scenic photos, interacted with classmates (at a safe distance). Overall a well rounded hike.
Feeling good, sweaty and energized. Warm temperature(80), sun was out with some cloud coverage. UV index was an 8! There were lots of joggers, dogs and walkers. This walk/hike was a great introduction for this hiking class. Everyone was spaced out and socially distanced. My heart rate was up, blood was pumping and feeling great to be outside. It was awesome to meet new people! Looking forward to the next hike!
Nice little warm up hike. The weather was really nice and mild. There were lots of doggos on the trail as well as runners. It felt nice to get outside in the sun shine and wearing a mask wasn't too much of a hindrance. Great way to spend a Friday morning!
Nice weather with a partly cloudy sky. Lots of people out walking the u to their dogs. The walk was pleasant and easy to do with a face mask on.
Good hike a little hot this morning but not a bad time. hike was slow and could have been faster. first hike with the class and had a good time. no issues at all. there were a lot of people out with dogs and kids so a good environment.
Nice weather, fantastic class. Sydney was great caboose, great views of ocean , few joggers and bike riders. I felt great.
Great view of Santa Barbara East Beach with some stairs to get the heart pumping as well as a walk through Shoreline Park.
Here is the deal. It’s a park with a nice paved walking path, but the “hike” starts when you take the long-ish stair case down to the beautiful relatively empty undeveloped beach and “hike” to your hearts content along the beach or to any of the other long staircase access points. This is very much an unofficial off leash dog area. This hike is also tide dependent. A hide tide would make this potentially impossible. Tides change daily. A quick google search will let you know what the ocean is up to that day. You could also head South on the pavement from the park towards the marina and walk on pavement for miles along more development/used beaches, but that’s not what this “hike” is sharing.
As a park, this place is fantastic. There are a lot of sitting areas, picnic benches, trash cans, bathrooms and free parking on both ends of the park, and the lovely ocean views of course. The steps down to the beach are towards the middle of the park. There is a small playground, and a free ocean view finder! The tide pools here are really beautiful and worth the visit. As a hiking trail, this completely paved walk through the park is ideal for those with wheels (wheelchairs, walkers, knee scooters, etc). If one includes the beach access, you literally can walk/jog for miles.
