This was a beautiful sunset/moonrise hike on a full moon night. Ascent took slightly over two hours, descent slightly less than two hours. Weather was cool but comfortable in late September. Trail was well-maintained gravel road with fairly gradual slope, probably used for maintenance vehicle access to the communications towers at the peak. Good footing all the way. For a bit of an extra challenge, cut across the last switchback before the peak--there is a clear 4WD path. Cell coverage was available throughout the hike (I have Verizon). There is no shade or shelter of any kind, so it is probably not a good candidate for midday hike in the summer. No water, no services, no signs. Mapping/routing after the fact shows 13-14 miles, but I have read other sources that put this at a 16 mile round trip.
