Hiking poles come in handy on this hike. Trail Camp is popular with local Scout troops, most of whom are returning on Sunday mornings. A gun club about a mile up the road is most audible on the Ridge Trail -- it's best to hike this section of the trail last, so your hike does not open to the sound of gunfire. Watch for poison oak on narrow sections of the trail. What to bring: Water/Snacks Clothing in layers Sunscreen Camera

HikingGreat!

Officially one of my favorite hikes in the area. The views were great, you get a lot of fresh air, and a good combination of sun and shade. Expect to climb over some rocks!

1/23/21 hike: Did this loop starting at dawn from the Saratoga Gap lot. Didn't see anyone on the Saratoga Toll Road and Travertines Spring Trails. First sign of life was 6 miles in around the campground on the Frog Flat Trail. Most of the Castle Rock single tracks are set up for one-way traffic, which is great during the panedemic, but some people were ignoring the signs. I took a detour down to the base of Castle Rock Falls. I would recommend this to anyone who is physically fit as you can't really see them well from the upper platform. This loop is such a great mix of scenery. I would highly recommend it.

We did the full 12 mile loop. Russell Point was the highlight with a great view. Goat Rock was extremely crowded as the parking lot is close by.

Tall beautiful trees, creeks, cool rock formations, and amazing views at the top of large mountains. I’ve seen family with little kids do this hike and I would only do the the start of the hike with kids but not all the way to the top.

Good stroll amongst the trees, good decent shade for most of the trail, the distance made it a little intense otherwise good nice hike, wear some good shoes and bring plenty of water

We ended up going counter clockwise. The trail head was difficult to find. Additionally, pay attention to other reviewers. Keep tabs on your map! We had to turn around at a couple points. There are multiple trail splits. A great hike otherwise, just watch out for getting off track.

Nice trail with great views! Don’t forget to check the map from time to time - it’s easy to miss the turn.
