Santa Clara River Commuter Rail Trail is a 17.4 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Valencia, California that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

Great of nature during my commute of group trip. Plenty of places to stop if need be!
So if you are looking to get outside and are really in a pinch, this will work for you. It is part of the Santa Clarita Paseo System. These are all paved paths along the Santa Clara River and it's tributaries. If you are riding your bike it is perfect and you really can go anywhere in the entire city. The down side is that if you are looking to get in a quick walk or hike, be ready for noise, bikes, dogs, trash, and everything else that comes with suburbia. The one saving grace is that the river is mostly undisturbed and filled with wildlife. There are small spots where you can take some single track use trails and poke around a bit. Sadly though when you do come across a group of curious rabbits like I did, there is some guy on a bike that comes flying by before you can get your camera out.
