There are two roads into and out of Sand Flat (The lower from near Red Fir Flat and the upper from below Bunny Flat). Both are signed and lightly maintained forest service roads (41N60 and 41N57) and provide drive up access to the formal Sand Flat Trail-head in summer and are popular cross country ski and snowshoe routes in winter. They also provide access to a network of marked winter cross country ski routes focused on Sand Flat

First time here for snowshoeing. Incredible views, pretty easy hike, we will be back for sure!

Very dry, dusty hike on a wide, dirt road with limited views of Shasta or anything else. Not recommended. There’s much better hiking nearby.
