NOTE: If you turn left onto Old Nimitz Way attempting to make this a loop, the route will end at private property, and you will be forced to turn around making this an out-and-back. The route shown on this map currently shows a publicly accessible out-and-back route. This trail starts at the Clark Road Trailhead at the very north part of Wildcat Canyon Regional Park. There is limited parking at the trailhead so arrive early if you plan on hiking or mountain biking on the weekends. The first half mile or so requires that dogs be on leash. Once you enter Wildcat Canyon, dogs can be off-leash on the trail. This loop offers gorgeous views of the bay including Mount Tam in Marin and San Pablo Reservoir in the east bay. The trail gets hot during the summer months so bring plenty of water. There is a lot of wildlife out on the trail including hawks, coyotes and foxes. Keep an eye out for cows as they are often roaming in the fields.

Fun hike with a lot of ups and downs. Would’ve given a 5 if not for the stretch of paved road.

Due to safety it’s closed. This is my go to that I found close to home where I don’t have to go to mission peak to feel the same accomplishments. Perk is I save car mileage and gas mileage.

Beautiful views and good wide trail. Quite steep at some points but the views are a great reward. Enough parking at the trail head for maybe 10 cars.

Great sunrise hike! Incredible views of the bay and of the sunrise!! The trail is steep and there’s tons of cattle along the trail. For sunrise the hike is pretty cold and windy.

Beautiful trail with amazing rolling hills and views of the city. More sun than share but not too bad. Bring a hat. Trail is wide enough to social distance but moderately crowded by 10am.

Not a good trail for running with steep and slippery slope, and this trail doesn't smell that good. Better to go with a stick

Beware! The loop shown dead ends into private property which required us to backtrack and added almost 2 miles to the route if you go counterclockwise

Couple of steep ups and downs, lots of loose dirt as well as rutted out hard pack. Excellent views of the bay when there isn’t cloud or fog cover. Saw a coyote, cows, lizards and a couple of hawks. Definitely a nice trail for a run. Had to walk a couple of the steeper sections because I’m new to trail running and don’t have my fitness level up high enough to run this entire trail. Overall a good experience and challenge. Will be back again.

Lovely loop. Clark Boas portion has some shade too. I had to hop a fence near the Mezue trail intersection to stay on the loop, but there were clear signs of use.

Back part of loop not maintained with trail sign actually reading dead end.. Extremely windy in sections. Our staff meme day and cold and cloudy but I could imagine stunning views. Ground extremely hard.

This is a fun loop with some good incline and fantastic views, however the last part of the loop is unmaintained during the summer months. Today it was extremely overgrown and lots of ticks. If you have a long haired dog I recommend staying on the wider trails. Great trail for mountain biking and trail running.

Great trail with views, wildlife and elevation gain. Can be a bit muddy after it rains and hot during the summers. Horseback riders and mountain bikers frequent this loop. Lots of hawks, coyotes and cows. There are a number of trail options so you can extend or shorten your loop based on your preference. Parking is available at the end of Clark Road. Make sure to shut the cattle gates when you enter the park.
