Morgan trail is good, winding it’s way upwards along a creek in the Cleveland National Forest. But the 2 mile assent from Morgan to San Mateo Peak is overgrown. The problem at this time of year (June) is aggressive black flies. That meant we did the Peak which has a pretty decent view at the top then turned around instantly and headed down just to keep moving. Each with our squadron of black flies circling our hats looking for exposed flesh. Bring bug spray because 4 miles of that is not enjoyable at all. In general I found this trail to be quite long and not great on views due to the line it follows and the density and height of the scrub after our good May rains. So you kind of walk a tunnel of shrubs and flowers - but I could use a bit more vista.

great hike - not hard at all....my 6 yr old did it with no issues. i would rate this hike easy. the last incline can be challenging if you're unfit... other than that, pretty cool place to trek through. also - watch out for the cats. they will test you so be careful.
