Recommend parking at the public parking lot on Knickerbocker when the skiers are using the parking lot that these directions will take you to. Easy, quick trail with views of the lake. There was 6-8 inches of snow, so plenty of people were sledding near the trailheads, but the trail itself was quiet and peaceful.

This is a beautiful and very easy trail along a contour line starting at Bear Mountain parking lot. However, there are a MILLION mountain bikers that FLY down this trail and we were almost nailed multiple times. I do not recommend this trail especially with children or dogs!!

Great easy trail from the base of Snow Summit to the Village. In summer months beware of mountain bikes - there are a lot of them and come around corners fast.

Nice easy 2 mile there and back hike. We parked on a street by the condos and walked up to the trail by the yellow stairs. Pretty easy, we took our 10 month old in his hiking pack and it worked well. Took around 45 minutes but we weren’t going fast. Shaded most areas as well.

Nice trail to do with kids. My 3 year old twins didn’t have any trouble with it. Cyclists come down the first half of the trail so you just have to be alert for them and move out of the way, but the trail is plenty wide to accommodate the cyclists and hikers.

Great for hiking with small kids and a dog! Mountain bikers on the first half of the trail. Very manageable. Wide trail with little to no difficulty.

Nice trail for casual hiking. Plenty of shaded areas along the way, there were more people on their bikes than hikers but there's plenty of room for both. Beautiful views of the lake and mountain all along the trail, we even saw a fawn.

I started from Snow Summit side. Parked near the condos. Have to watch out for mountain bikers coming down the mountain the first half mile. Decent views of the lake. Wide open trail that isn’t very difficult.

Not bad. Distant view of the lake through the forest. Thanks to previous commenter for directions to trailhead. It’s at “snow summit town house rentals”. Quite a few spots where water was (trickling) crossing the path but not bad just a tiny bit of mud. The rim of the world scenic drive up to here was incredible though (from this app). They had spartan race at this location today, different connected trail.

Very easy trail for beginners and small children. Wide trail with plenty of shade. Not much elevation gain, decent lake views near the turnaround (the village). Spartan Race uses parts of the trail (and blocks the trailhead). Check for the Big Bear Spartan Race dates, to avoid the frustration.

Easy trail a little hard to find. You have to park in the parking lot then walk up a set of stairs through an apartment complex. Once at the top you turn right and walk until you see the trail head. Scenic. In good shape. And not super crowded.

gr Great hike; nice and easy. Saw a few mountain bikers and joggers other than that it wasn't very crowded.

Decent length trail.... we went geocaching with our 6 year old and it was a bit hotter then we would have liked. But that did not discourage us we did not make it all the way to the end our son got very tired from all the climbing around he did searching for the treasures. (geocache)

A walk in the woods. This is the trail you do if you're visiting and not really ready to hike yet.
