"My body has been a good friend, but I won't need it when I reach the end." Just keep telling yourself that as you trudge up Big Bad Iron. From there, you follow the ridge line over to West Baldy. Easier said than done, as it is somehow more difficult than climbing up Iron. Lots of loose scree, 3rd and 4th class terrain, no trail save a small use trail here and there, and a 2000+ ft climb in the last 2 miles. Probably best done in the spring. It was hot in September. We had a liter of water left for the ridge each and ran out. Bring at LEAST 2L for the ridge alone per person. It is only 4 miles, but with the rock scrambling/climbing it is quite time consuming. Be ready, this one is not to be trifled with.
